I've used the search function but still not really found anything conclusive.

Does anybody have suggestions as to which USA-based Flight Schools issue JAA MEIRs and which to avoid? Also any indication as to possible costs etc? PM me if you can offer any advice :ok:

Thanks in advance guys & girls, I'm grateful for your time...

Cheers

You cannot do the JAA ME/IR in the US, you have to do the test in Europe, it is possible to do the training there and then go to to Europe for the test though.

If you're looking for a UK approved JAR IR course in the USA then there isn't any.

To do a UK IR then you need to be examined by a CAA employed IRE, and there isn't and stateside...

None at all in the US? That would explain why I've not had much luck nosing through the threads. Seems like I'll have to do it in the UK and swallow the prices. Now to start searching for info on UK-based providers...

Thanks for the replies people...

I know this school well, as well as the owner.

They have an affiliate with Leeds Flight Training (not a surprise since the owner is originally from Leeds).

Euro American School of Aviation - Price Page - Pricing Information (http://www.flyeasa.com/prices.php)

In addition, from their prices above, they only offering IR renewals- not inital courses.

I reiterate what I said previously, having worked at the CAA previously in PLD, I know for a fact there are no UK JAR IR initial courses in the USA.

Try looking up if there are Spanish, French or German courses perhaps.

ps.

I did my conversion at Stapleford flight centre. VERY good school and very good prices. I would say that you won't do the conversion in the minimum JAR stipulated requirements, but I did mine at Stapleford in 30 hours which meant my cheap FAA IR knocked off 15 hours JAR IR training- and I saved money there.

Otherwise from what I was hearing from plenty of people when I was at the CAA- Spain is cheap and pretty good (not as good as UK mind) too. Check out Aerodynamics in Malaga Aerodynamics Malaga: FTO and Airline company (http://www.aerodynamics.es/en/flight_school/ir_conversion.html), and Aerofan AEROFAN FTO (http://www.aerofanfto.com/OLD/ir_i.htm)

I believe Aerodynamics is pretty good.
