Short Wave Radio for Use in Hong Kong

Can anyone offer some advice about a good short wave radio for use in Hong Kong ? I particularly would like a unit that is capable of world wide reception and in particular will pick up the BBC (UK) ABC (Australia) and VOA (USA from Honolulu). Not too worried about the cost as long as it does the job and the unit and aerial are not too bulky. Hopefully available in Hong Kong but if not I am happy to chase after it.

Are you serious??? Why would you want to use SW radio to receive these stations when you can use any number of internet based devices to listen to these very stations with crystal clear audio?

Go out and buy yourself a Logitech Squeezebox and you will have access to just about any radio station on the planet played back through any sound system you choose. Same goes for many other solutions. Any web-browser will give access to any of your desired stations at no cost with crystal clear audio.

That presupposes 2 systems are working : the internet, and the electricity grid. We don't know when undersea cables are going to be severed again to produce the kind of internet blackouts Asia experienced not so long ago. Electricity could also be cut due to a storm and they frequently do. That's why I keep a hand powered radio at home, in case everything goes pear-shaped.

Another reason could be due to news and/or internet censorship practised in many countries. A radio would be really hand then.

I have used a Sony ICF-SW7600G for many years and have been very pleased with it. Does HF well and can also do SSB. No VHF apart from FM broadcast band though.

I believe the current version is ICF-SW7600GR. Reviews are readily available via Google.
