i am wondering what are the conversion people going to do, because the syllabus mentioned only says CPL/ATPL, nothing about CG(conversion).Maybe, even they will have to undergo the same no of exams ie. 5

Why should one stop this..I think its the best thing to happen to us pilots. Atleast there is a defined syllabus now.

I can only see 2 reasons why someone would have a problem with this..

1. You just are not competent enough and are flying coz u think there are no studies involved.
2. You did your flying in Phillipines and dont know jack**** abt flying :}.

They should completely remove CPLCG category..let all pilots take the same exams. Anyways most ppl who do their flying abroad take all three Met, Reg, Nav eaxams (Like me) so i dont think it should pose any threat to anyone.

@t.a my sympathies to you

i agree with you, i think the DGCA is now really getting serious about indian aviation.We should appreciate the reforms being brought up by them.

Regarding this draft i would like to say that the syllabus is what we have studied, its just that they are bringing up transparency by telling you what to study. We never had the detailed syllabus in front of us, which i think made us study like crazy people.
Secondly, earlier the DGCA exams were valid for 2 1/2 yrs nw they are valid for 5 yrs.

Since the draft doesn't describe any thing about conversion. Will this be applicable for CPL-CG? :sad:
I am worried as i am only left with one paper. do i need to start preparing for remaining subject as well from now(if the draft comes in effect)? :ugh:

The other day i was reading this revised (latest) CAR http://dgca.nic.in/cars/D7B-B1.pdf on observing 5.1.(f) little curious to know if the flight planning and relevant topics are exempted for CPL-CG Navigation-composite exam?

K. I am positively confused over this now.

Whats with the exams for IR? Did the students flying from India always have to do this?

Are these IR papers going to be entirely different from the ATPL papers?
So how many papers for a frozen ATPL now? And what if one has a JAA ATPL. would there be a conversion process involved or would it be the same regardless?

There will be 5 exams but 9 Subjects!!!!!!:ugh:

There will be 5 papers or 5 subjects, divided into 9 sections. How is that difficult to understand? Eg: Regulations divided into 2 sections, viz. Air Law and Human Performance. This only better encapsulates the topics.

Any idea when this draft will be etched in stone and implemented? I heard that October onwards, this new syllabus will be implemented. But looking at how busy the DGCA has been over the last few months, it will probably take till October 2012 :}
