Does anybody know what the entertainment system is like on the Qantas 767 and 73NG domestic flights?
Trying to work out if I need to charge up all my toys to take with me or not..
Cheers!

Charge your toys.

Haven't been on a 767 for a few months but was on a 73NG last week to Darwin and back - screens in overhead compartments flip down and you are then at the mercy of the person(s) who programmes movies / shows.:yuk: I have to say I was not impressed with the choice of movies last week (including Dinner for Jerks - what are they thinking????) Thankfully I had a good book to pass the 4 hours each way. Also location and light reflections made the screen difficult to see.

The 767 trip was similar - but from memory it had the old CRT screens suspended under the comparements.

No personal entertainment systems. :ugh: Are we in the 20th Century still with inflight entertainment in Australia?

Or, you could try another carrier that has screens in each seat and you get to swipe your credit card for the privilige of many channels of rubbish (except one or two).

hmm. sounds pretty poor for 2010, AND the airline who is supposed to be I think #7 or something in the world...hmm.
I think I will charge toys..

The 767's still sport the big projector style screen at the front of the economy section, the ones with the 3 seperate bulbs, red green and blue, man those are what, 70's era? Many an old pub used to have those for watching the horse racing.

I did hear recently though that Qantas are about to upgrade 767 entertainment systems in the new future. About bloody time.

The original plan was for the 767 to be retired by about 2011- hence the old IFE.

I reckon in the early 70's they had fillum projectors in the 747's across the Pacific - when the video projectors came in we thought they were pretty flash ...

Of course, my memory may be playing tricks on me :uhoh:

The A330 on the other hand has great in flight entertainment. Was on a Perth - Sydney flight the other day in cattle class and had a screen in the back of the seat in front that was loaded with TV shows, movies, music, etc. I definitely didn't get bored.

depends what 330 you end up on as well, the older ones still have the overhead screens

agree the 767 is a disgrace...the 737NG is at least a bit more modern, and I believe ultimately they will be reconfigd with the seatback screens similar to the new jconnect ones...

Don't depend on the kiddies packs either - unless your kiddies can be amused with an Abacus, slate and coloured chalk.

Did it ever occur to you that the 767 was on that route due to the A380s being out of service? :cool:

How's the IFE on the B717
Seat 0A? 6 HD screens (where's that USB socket again?), no knobs, hot and cold running "service", great 180° views and all at a good price. Best part: all flights less than 3 hours. No time to get bored! :ok::ok::)

Absolutely!

Remember always coming back from sim in MEL on the last service to BNE and the BNE CC would recognise me, ask if l am driving home, and then place a bottle of Shiraz on my tray table if l said no.

That's IFE for me :}

Capn Bloggs,

It wasn't that Capn. I was well aware of it as I had been travelling around all week. It was that I had just come off the red eye from PER (B767 domestic config) and went international on the B767 with domestic config. I just wanted my own screen! :{

I don't know if they class NZ as international or not, it was just my bad luck travelling in that week. Gives me another reason to travel and try international business again later without having an embargo on almost every international port. :ok:
