Hi Alif,

Hang in there. Keep on trying. Don't give up hope. I know how you feel.

There are a billion unemployed pilots in Malaysia and only so little jobs open.

Whatever pays to fly -- go for it. Don't just wait for the airline gig, take whatever comes your way. Start wherever/whenever for whoever.

I am back into GA flying myself this interim.

Don't lose the dream!

Good luck.

*Wings Air’s fleet of ATRs increases up to 30 aircraft

Jakarta, Indonesia

European turboprop manufacturer ATR, Indonesia’s Wings Air and its parent company Lion Air today signed an operational contract for the purchase of 15 additional ATR 72-500s. Today’s signature for this new 72-seat aircraft order, which follows the agreement signed in 2010, has been witnessed by Mr. Hatta Rajasa, the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Mrs. Christine Lagarde, the French Minister of Economy, Finances and Industry, and Mr. Philippe Zeller, HE the French Ambassador in Indonesia. These aircraft will bring to 30 the total fleet of ATRs operated by Wings Air.

ATR and Lion Air had previously inked a contract in 2009 for the purchase of 15 ATR 72-500s and options for 15 additional aircraft. The deal announced today represents the conversion of all 15 options, resulting from a strong growth of Wings Air’s and Lion Air’s markets.

Wings Air introduced the new ATR 72-500s in Indonesia in January 2010 and 10 of the aircraft are already in operation. With the delivery of the 15 additional aircraft, Wings Air and Lion Air will become ATR’s largest customer in South-East Asia.

With its fleet of ATRs, Wings Air is developing a strong regional network across Indonesia, increasing passenger traffic and frequencies, while improving connectivity to small and remote communities. Wings Air’s ATR fleet is also enabling the airline to feed Lion Air’s Boeing 737-900ER vast routes network.

With the introduction of the new ATRs in the coming months, Wings Air will further develop new routes from and to Sumatra, Sulawesi and Java, as well as connecting big cities with flying range within one hour, like Surabaya and Denpasar.

Lion Air, its parent company Wings Air and ATR are all grateful to the French and Italian Governments for their essential support provided through their respective Export Credit Agencies COFACE and SACE in the financing that has permitted the operation of ATR72-500 aircraft by Wings Air in the skies of Indonesia.

Commenting on the announcement, Pak Rusdi Kirana, Chairman of Wings Air and President Director of Lion Air, declares: “Our increasing fleet of modern ATR aircraft is making a strong contribution to the growth of our national economy. We are proud to expand and develop transportation capabilities across Indonesia with aircraft featuring the most modern technologies and comfort standards. ATR aircraft are becoming very popular in Indonesia as they play a key role in the development of business and tourism, as well as interconnecting the Indonesia archipelago”.

Filippo Bagnato, Chief Executive Officer of ATR, declares: “We are consolidating a strong and fruitful partnership with Lion Air and Wings Air, and we are glad to witness the growing success of such a leading brand in South East Asia. The success of the development of regional routes in Indonesia is clearly having a deep impact on our growth in South East Asia. This very dynamic South-East Asian market represents a third of our sales in the last years and there is already some 130 ATRs being operated there. We are pleased that leading carriers in Asia select our aircraft and enjoy unbeatable economic and revenue performances”.

Wings Air Abadi ATRs are sub-leased from parent company Lion Air,
and leased from a european company.

They do not own the aircraft.

Hi,

if you want to give a try the best option is to come directly in Jakarta and check by yourself it makes a big difference instead of calling or sending a CV, I know pilots with no hours on type just recently hired by different companies in Indonesia because of the lack of pilots.

In the worst case you will loose a ticket in the other hand you might find a job.

All the best :ok:

I'm an Indian holding Ausi CPL with frozen ATPL ME/IR...

I'm ready to pay for my rating ( Either ATRs or 733/4)...

Do you think its worth flying down to Jakarta and approach the companies there???

Please help me out I'm so desperate to get my first job...

Hakeem,

you'll loose only a ticket, just for information my friends are rated on the 737CL, they get the job because they are now in Jakarta, they were not expected to get the job but regarding the situation they have secured a job good for them.

If you can come here it worth nothing don't pay for your rating for the moment you have to see first but more job on the 737 than ATR.

Bye :ok:

Hakeem,

I mean to get a rating on the b737 or ATR, just come here and see by yourself if you have a positive contact with a firm contract in that case get your type rating and come back but don't expect them to pay it for you, they want rated people a CPL/IR is not enough.

Hope it helps. :ok:

Recently I applied for a job with WingsAir for direct entry captain on the ATR they send me a very uncommon reply.

They told me that i was very good for the ATR position but they would like me to go Straight to the left seat on the boeing. they sent me the brochure and even dates to start the type rating.

It a good opportunity, but the pack is not great however.

Are they really getting people with no jet experience straight to the left seat on the Boeing?? or it´s just to make some money with the ratings.????

There's a new opportunity for low-time CPL pilots interested in flying for an Indonesian outfit that is looking to purchase a couple of ATR72/42. Contact the people at Avia Integrated Indonesia or FlyGosh for more info.

i think i know guys who been there for close to three months and still have not started flying... they went thru msd.
the process is pretty slow... getting the sim check done getting the work permit then waiting for your number to fly with the line training guys etc...
last i checked it was 10lac plus tax after you have a type rating to go thru MSD for a co pilot position ... in WINGS AIR:confused::confused:

but on the bright side my frnd did start flying in the lion air program after like 5 months of wait time and hes super busy flying...:cool:
