In the late 70's we returned from a family holiday in Menorca on a Dan-Air Boeing 727 Series 100 aircraft.
On checking-in at Mahon, we requested seats towards the front of the aircraft and were allocated seats on Row 5.
On boarding the aircraft we were surprised to find the first 4 rows blocked-off and an announcement was made that anyone who wished to move into these blocked-off seats could do so once the aircraft was airbourne and the seat belt sign switched off. Apart from the first 4 rows, the flight seemed to be pretty full.
With the B727 having three rear mounted engines it is hardly likely that the aircraft could have been nose heavy, so could anyone give possible explanations for this.

2000 hours in it, never heard tell of this problem. C of G was not a problem in normal ops.

(Just regular pax speaking) Sounds unlikely in a 'heavy metal' machine so: Cargo distribution not ideal that day? Although, from a small destination it seems unlikely!
