View Full Version : Renewal of long-expired FAA CPL ME IR

Hello. I hold an FAA CPL ME IR but have not done any flying on it in the last 7 years. Now I want to start flying again and, as I want to do a JAA frozen ATPL, I need to renew my FAA licenses (otherwise I don't get any credit). Does anybody know what is the best way of going about renewal, and what is needed? I would like to do it in the UK, but I am willing to go to the States if necessary (or significantly cheaper!)

are you planning on converting to UK licenses or just get the FAA ones back?

I am about to begin the ground school (distance learning) for the JAA ATPL.

If your FAA licenses were original (not based on a foreign license conversion) they are valid forever. Go to the FAA: Home (http://www.faa.gov) website, airmen certification, and register to see what is still in the registry. You may need only to get a valid FAA medical certificate and flight review - and you are legal FAA!

Patrick, hello. I know the license is valid forever (or until returned or revoked, in any case). It is the BFR and IR/ME renewal I am seeking advice on.
