The business requires my presence near Pune, India at the end of November. Since my colleagues told me horrible stories about travelling within India (e.g. flight schedule changes that make you miss a connecting flight) I have chosen to fly straight FRA-PNQ on PrivatAir.

I have seen one SLF review here but it was for a flight to US and a while ago. I wonder if there is somebody out there having been on the FRA-PNQ quite recently. Also, it would be good to know if there is a crew member of PrivatAir active here. Maybe he can name some hotels that are good to stay at.

Thanks in advance!

for accommodation try Le Meridien - if you can get a booking at this stage

Travel in India is dire to say the least esp with the extremely late departures, farcical Business lounges with people sitting on floors and lots of mossies buzzing about

If you do to Pune Hotels: Read Pune Hotel Reviews and Compare Prices - TripAdvisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g297654-Pune_Maharashtra-Hotels.html) you can click on the number of reviews, for each hotel, to read what other guests have to say about each establishment.

Once you may have semi-decided then go to a hotel search engine, such as Kelkoo Shopping Search Engine | US Online shopping & Price comparison (http://www.kelkoo.com) (then select the kelkoo site for, or nearest to, your country) to shop around for the best prices.

It's an excellent idea to fly direct - the drive from BOM to Pune is "interesting". I go there once a month.

Do yourself a big favour and ignore the Le Meridian suggestion. Go and stay at the Oakwood Premier. It's cheaper, the restaurant is better, the WiFi is excellent and you'll get a 6 room appartment for the price of a hotel room *and still get room service / laundry / housekeeping etc...

Remember you can hire a car/driver for about $200 for the week (PM me for details if you don't have the name of a company)

I wish my company would pay for the buisness class flight direct - the Pune Mumbai Highway requires a change of underpants....

Thanks for your replies. Especially for that TripAdvisor link - did not think of that one. :ugh:

Our customer suggested now to stay at the Sayaji Pune (approx. 80.00 EUR per night).

Back from my trip. Just in case anybody is interested about the Sayaji Hotel:

It is (depending on daytime) a 30...45 minute ride in a car from the airport. Pickup service in a white Audi Q7 is provided (free of charge).

Pro
-Food
-an iPhone provided by the hotel is used as a remote for TV, VOD, A/C, Light, etc.
-every room has a PC with internet access free of charge
-every room has WiFi free of charge you can connect your own devices to
-service
-every floor has a lobby with a reception; you don't need to go downstairs for printing out some papers
-some other complimentary thinks (water, cookies, tea bags, instant coffee, etc.)

Con
-the cooling fan of the PC is pretty loud - you will think A/C is still running even though it was switched off
-PC hung up two times (7 day stay); since the iPhone is connected to it you can't even switch off the lights ;); but service was great and everything was fine after 5 minutes
