Can someone from BA or Virgin let us know what the situation is in ST Lucia?
I understand that there have been no flights since before Hurricane Tomas hit Saturday - and even if the airport (UVF/TLPL) does open visitors have no way of reaching hotels in the north or Soufriere area as roads have disappeared.

Anyone have first hand info on what the current situation is ?

This is a free access facebook page with 100+ photos of the damage. Nothing on the normal news pages.....

I just find it strange that neither BA nor Virgin have any reason stated on their sites up to today.... Just "waiting for update" or "canceled" with no further info and a link to click on that leads to a generic FAQ.

And I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow the flights still get canx last minute. I think the St Lucia authorities are just re-issuing the notam every 12 hrs or so - hoping each time will be the last..... First they said closed until 31 Oct 2000 UTC then 01 Nov 1600 UTC now it is tomorrow 1100UTC.....

As far as I know, UVF was closed due to damage from Tomas - runway supposedly flooded and the terminal damaged. Work is still being done to re-open as soon as possible. There is also a problem with access from the south to the north as many roads and bridges have been washed out.
The SLASPA is trying to make arrangements for passengers to be flown to/from GFL Charles airport for access to the north side hotels.
The island took a hard hit from Tomas, with the northern eye-wall passing over the south side of the island with 100mph winds.
The north side of the island suffered much less damage.

My flight to UVF got cancelled this morning.

Almost made it to the airport when crew scheduling called.

Did a 180 and went back home.
No reason given.
