Here we engineers are.....
Compulsory overtime,
Not able to take lieu time,
Not able to take leave,
Shortage of engineers,
Taking anywhere from 9 months to 2 years to gain company approval due to the GCAA,
People leaving due to management ignorance of the current situation (more aircraft arriving, less staff),
Favouratism towards "engineers" from India (Lots of management/ job allocators are Indian) so we get Ridiculous job allocations and shat on regularly.

and before you say "at least you have a job".....believe me...its really not worth the effort.....SANITY IS BETTER THAN WORKING FOR A CRAP COMPANY.

ANENG

Money is around $4500 per month to approx $6000.

You get more money if your part of the Mumbai Mafia and more if your an incompetant Indian :yuk:.

This place is so vile it can make you mentally sick.:}

Did I say they were, or did I say that I know everything? Please quote me cause I can't recall doing so. I did call you a pompous ass & a chop, and I stick to that statement. I didn't reply to your post on the other thread because you're not worth the effort, nor are you my 'mate' or 'brother'.

Hopefully the moderators will remove this completely pointless thread.

Spanners,
I do not think that this thread is pointless.
Can we not share our own experience with some colleagues ?
Moreover , it can be interesting for the guys who are thinking about a joining to know whats really going on there.

I said it before and I'll reiterate
This thread is childish, pointless, serves no purpose and racist.
And I hope the will admins take care of this garbage.

You poor lambs.

If you're too close to the fire and your feet start to burn, do you complain about it or move your feet?

If you're working for them and you don't like it, leave. Just go. Move your feet.

Mr plore
You're old enough already for me to teach you what's racist and whats not.
First off, There was no mention of arabs in this thread and yes I am arab that said my problem was the mention of indian not arabs.
The thread starter started bashing all indians because of certain individuals that have favouritism towards thier race which is racist, If you have a problem with someone don't generalize you're here representing your race aswell and if an indian looked at your posts and comments he would difinately think of all brits as racist, Then he started calling them wobbly heads and other mean words thats also racist and immature FFS you're again giving people a bad impression of your race and yourself and I don't think that an educated aircraft maintenance engineer would have this attitude towards others.
In regards to your comment about me saying old ladies and regarding it sexist I believe it's blatant enough that it was just a banter or a joke and I didn't mean insulting old ladies in any way, So if you wanna take it as sexist it's up to you It's clear you're trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill over others comments to compensate your fault.
You and your friend the thread starter are worse you insult a whole ethnic group because of a few individuals doing and you were markedly serious about everything you said I don't see any banter in there.
What taff missed said was literally right, If you're not up to standard to enduring the difficulties in your job and you always grip about measly problems you're better off quitting as you're not man enough for it it's not that difficult to just resign and quit the predicament.
If you don't like DXB leave no one is forcing you to stay, Give others that are keen to work your job potential, If you don't like something give it to the one's that need it no point in keeping it for yourself if you don't like it, There are many unemployed people that would gladly fill in for you.
In every industry, Every field and every job there are advantages and disadvantages and you're old enough for me to tell you that so I figured I'd just remind you, However grouching and insulting other ethnic groups to relieve the frustration is forsooth not the right way to approach these problems and difficulties so stop griping and look at the good side of your job, And that's a brotherly advise from an unexperienced 21 year-old for you.

May be strange coming from me but:

UAE nationals are outnumbered something like 15 to 1. It is to be expected if at times they may appear to be overzealous towards their own. Given the same ratio in any country one would expect the same to happen.

I spent many many years in the UAE and it was an absolute pleasure and honor to be considered and treated as a friend by the locals. It wasn't easy adjusting but once achieved it really is a fantastic country.

The real issue I suspect is that terms and conditions are not what they used to be in real terms. But this is part of the bigger aviation picture which many don't want to accept, the industry is changing and changing for the worst. Get out if you can, especially if you are young but don't turn your gripes into a racist or nationalistic thing because that is not the problem.

flame_bringer
6th Nov 2010, 10:52
One simple question for you mr plore:
What would you benefit from complaining about your current job apart from more of an aggravation and displeasure?
You're not helping your problem this way, Okay so you're unhappy about your current job and you're eagerly looking for another one go work towards it then and when you find it quit, It's that simple, exploit your precious time on something useful rather than resorting to complaining and wasting it.
I'm not here to direct assaults on you or anyone I respect everyone around me but threads like this one seriously get on my nervs especially when I see people bash other airlines, complain and discourage others.

And do not accuse all arabs of treating thier expat staff like slaves, In where I work I know many expats that are managers when they're the most inept people you'd come across, Whilst there are many arabs that served the company for a longer time and are much more competant yet they're still on the shop floor, And no those expats are not indian they're all westerners.
Just for your information.

6th Nov 2010, 11:17
Plore,
There wasn't an assumption by a younger person than you that you were a Brit was there? That statement hasn't been removed from a certain persons post has it? I am a Brit, I do live in Dubai and would not be best pleased if generic assumptions were being made about me and my countrymen. After
all that sort of comment could be misconstrued as racist and we wouldn't want that, would we.

Okay you can forward your complains to the HR of your company and they'll look into it that's thier job, If that doesn't work try talking to the managment in person, If all solutions don't work then your last resort would be looking for another job.
I don't think that your managment would do anything about it out of a complain in pprune.
Okay so you're not brit and I don't know what you are, But generally speaking, People would typically think of westerners as racists if they stumble across blasphemous posts like this topic, That was my point.
And I'm not refering to you here I'm refering to the thread starter.

absolutely pointless argument and you guys are embarrassing us as AME's because every time one of you posts a reply the thread jumps to the top of the table..!

Plore, I understand your frustration but you know what happens when any airline management read your post? They will only be happy! because if EK is doing this they too can and should! They don't care how you're doing or how you're feeling, they care that you're there releasing their aircraft with the minimum cost and headache possible and THAT'S why they favor Indians and Filipinos , nothing personal they just cost less, whine less and do the same job.

We need to get over stupid bullsh!t like racism and classism and unite with our fellow workers to put our foot down as a one so someone out there would be willing to listen to us.

Aircraft orders are increasing and supply of qualified man power can't and will not match the demand. At least not over night. And unlike any other field the effect is instantly globalized. When EK or QR for example boosts salaries the region and consequently the world will have to match and this process keeps going until the supply is more than the demand which is not the case these days. We can make the best of this occupation if only we can get over stupid bullsh!t and unite...

So, instead of this pointless argument I say find ways to make us -AME's- unite and twist the arms of managements instead of twisting each others.

they care that you're there releasing their aircraft with the minimum cost and headache possible and THAT'S why they favor Indians and Filipinos well, guess you answered it already with facts like minimum cost...bring it to a point, the indian quality is NOT the standart it should be ( and this includes AME, pilots, CRM etc ) .

i do, too ! Where is your brave behaviour and big speeches when it comes to all the indian etc. labours ? Ah yes, I know....they have rights like not working when it is over 50 deg. C. Pitty that your local scale ends at 49.5....

Mr rainman , sorry , rennmax ,
You joined pprune in november 2009 , and this is your first post in december 2010 ...
What a great contribution ...
Or maybe , you are here just as a spy ?
Afraid of something ?
About growing up : do you think that management who is scre.ing Engineers are on a good way to grow up the business of a company ?
Then you say : " get out there and fix the planes instead of spending so much time on this thread ! ".
Are you talking to your kids ?
Typical superior way of speaking from there ...
Do you know that , to fix the planes , we need time (very short ground times are not helpfull) and parts ?
If you are in an office , it is easier for you to come on this forum ...
Anyway , even management do not have internet access unless ... it is to come on pprune !
Fix the planes : if you are an ex-Engineer , GO OUT FROM YOUR OFFICE AND GO HELP THE GUYS WHO ARE SUFFERING OUTSIDE.
Maybe , you will be obliged (common word from there) to do it as the rate of resignation is high , no ?
Maybe , somebody should suggest this to VPs , SVPs , DSVPs and bo..cks VPs ...
EK guys still have some times off to come on internet ?
