For a small airline/charter outfit, what are the options for getting connected to
AFTN, and
SITA
networks,
in terms of who provides access, what the requirements are (do you have to be at an airport ?), and what it costs ...
Thanks ...

You could use ARINC Services for SITA
I guess they could also provide a solution for AFTN
Check their website : AviNet Mail by ARINC (http://www.arinc.com/products/voice_data_comm/networks/mail.html)
Sita has access to AFTN using keywords

Yes via OREXTYF and fax using HDQFAXS.
Anyone know how to access SITA without going direct to SITA or ARINC ? Using via email would be useful too.
via Internet OK:ok:

This website may help you
Web Type B | SITA.aero (http://www.sita.aero/product/web-type-b)

Do you have the required IATA and ICAO Codes for your organisation?
If you do then there are a number of options for SITA and as Grasscarp points out the Place to start is Web Type B | SITA.aero (http://www.sita.aero/product/web-type-b) you can then use the SITA Gateway for your AFTN Message (providing volumes are small).
If you don't have an IATA Code for your Organisation and believe that you don't need one, then maybe e-SITA from Wrengler (http://www.wengler.com/english/produkte_esita.html) would be adequate, This would still give you access to AFTN via the SITA Gateway.
You posed what appeared a simple question but with all the possible access solutions from SITA I think you need to think about the numbers of messages you will be handling a month and therefore the costs that are likely. At the end of the day part of SITA you would deal with is now a commercial organisation.
I am not sure it helps, but back in the Archive is a thread which includes a Post I made back in May 2009: AFTN or SITA address structure (http://www.pprune.org/flight-ground-ops-crewing-dispatch/361853-aftn-sita-address-structure.html)

Hi,
Is there a list of AFTN addresses of the various aviation authorities around the world where I can apply for overflight permits?
Thanks.
