Defence/ Offence

Is it 'Defence' of the UK from foreign interests, ie repulsing them, whoever they are?

Or 'Offence', ie getting them before they even think (or imagine, or dream) of getting us, before they get us!

And, if the latter, might we- by doing them in, not cause them to attack us, when otherwise they may have just been looking after the kids?

Both. Deter the offence and you have defence. You don't have to beat them with the big stick, just carry it, and be prepared to use it.
