unfortunately, the SMARTEST thing management ever did was to promote pilots into management roles and then have THEM negotiate against their fellow pilots.
I maintain that to BREAK this trend, Unions will have to stipulate, and have the backbone to follow through with the promise that a: they WILL NOT negotiate with ex pilots and
b: any pilot who accepts a management role, in whatever capacity, is NO LONGER welcome in the pilot union. EVEN when they leave the management role and return to piloting.

A lot of "empire builders" want the best of both worlds, and the unions have not had the constitutional fortitude to deny them the safety blanket that they take with them to the management role.

be clear though... I am not suggesting for one moment that ones career should be blocked by attempting to further themselves into another field.... but I think that pilots unions should NOT be a backstop for those that try to sell out their brothers and sisters in a vein attempt to curry favour with their new master.

This is not right guys. Joe has landed some heavy blows and if management want to continue fighting and use the statement to defend their position they will come off second best.

Now is the time to press these immoral actions of Jetstar. If you don't wages, conditions and standards will continue to be lowered and many Aussie pilots will be put out of work.

Please, if this could happen i'm sure all of us would be in it right now.

If more pilots came out now like JE did, the public and anyone who has no idea will look at what happened to JE and decide that maybe these pilots aren't aware that "Jetstar does have appropriate avenues for line Pilots like myself to effectively communicate to all levels of the airline."

Not only that, but pilots that speak up will be told by J* management (in the public eye of course) that all these "issues" are not the case, as the events that happened with Joe showed. :ugh:

Thanks for riding, come back in 5 odd years when everyone forgets and we can try again. Fingers crossed the Senate can get somewhere...

Fingers crossed the Senate can get somewhere...

What you are trying to do is shift your responsibility for getting things done to someone else.
Mate... ya gotta do it yourself.
