Hi

I have been advised by my aero-medical doctor to undergo a tonsillectomy before my next medical. I consulted a ENT specialist and was told in layman terms that I am border case and dont have to go through a surgery unnecessarily.

Has anybody else had a similar issue where Aero-medical Doctor has told you one thing and an outside specialist has told you the opposite.

I would appreciate any comments from anyone with a similar experience and how they managed to convince the aeromedical doctor.

Why?

For the sake of nine more words, what's the story of your symptoms ?

And has he made it black & white?

Sounds like your AME is simply offering an opinion, certainly he's not directing your treatment.

Like any other situation with a difference of medical opinion: evaluate the two opinions, consider the expertise of the two docs, and choose which way to go.

Unless your AME is also an ENT specialist, I'd opt for the expert here.
