I'm a PA31 driver looking to get endorsed and PVT hire something with at least 12 seats + baggage space.

Ideally, something in or near Sydney would be handy. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

:= Give me a break and please don't turn this into a thread about CAR 2(7A), as that wouldn't be all that helpful.

Thanks!

Avis may have a Toyota Coaster that seats that many people and as a bonus you only need a car drivers licence.!!!!!!:ugh:

Not much around between 9 to 19 pax seats!

Cessna Grand Caravan? PC12? Trilander?

What else has 12 seats? PNG configured Islander .:E

C404 did originally.

Next step would be an Twin Otter or Bandit. Not many of them around!

What else has 12 seats?

Nomad, Do 228, 200 and 300 series Super King Air, Metro 2, Merlin.

Chances of PVT hire, next to nil.

The elusive C209 has it's own amusing and memorable thread here http://www.pprune.org/dg-p-general-aviation-questions/222800-cessna-209-poh-hire.html

I understand Transcendental Aviation operate a small fleet of 'em to supplement their C413 Vice Chancellors. In many respects, the two aircraft types are quite similar.

BTW Groggy, I don't mind your Toyota Coaster idea. Could you drive it to Lord Howe Island for me?

Well, if you can do it with a VW Beetle, you should be easily able to do it with a Coaster...

Probably something more like this.

Having said that, neither car will fit 12 pax. In fact, this car's MTOW will be shot, and Lasi's VW would probably sink under the load.

The search continues...

This doesn't 'legally' apply to PVT ops (I think), but most aircraft of that capacity will be turbine and will usually require 50 hrs ICUS + Base check + Line check for insurance requirements..

Might be cheaper to charter it in stead or wait and get a job flying the machine you want to hire.

Alternatively, can you get a mate to fly another PA-31 / C404 etc and fly it with two a/c in stead? That will allow you the baggage space with room for fuel too:ok:
