Hi all

I need to revalidate my BD700 rating so I can fly on hourly base

The thing is that I haven't revalidated it in the sim since a year and half now so obviously it's not valid

I heard there are options of revalidating a license in the aircraft with a certified examiner, is that true?

Can I take on board an examiner (my license is UK CAA-JAR) to revalidate my rating? What needs to done on such a flight?
The owner of the aircraft will not pay for a whole sim training but we can manage to finance an on board training.

I am current on another type (Falcon 2000LX) and flying it regularly

So what do you say? is there an option to revalidate my rating on the AC or can it be done only in the SIM?

All the best and thanks for any answer.

Yes you can renew your LPC for the BD700 in an aircraft with a qualified aircraft TRE.
The LPC will have the same content as your test in the simulator however there will be system failures that cannot not be tested for safety reasons, the engine failures will be simulated at a speed greater than V2, for actual in flight engine shutdowns check this is ok with the insurance company.
The test will most likely be far more expensive than conducting an LPC in the simulator, you will have a minimum of 2 hours flying plus landing / handling fee's and TRE fee. For the average hourly cost of operating the Global plus the above items you probably wont get much change out of 12000 Euros.

Although they schedule 4 hours for an LPC. We are normally finnisched a lot faster. Remember an LPC consist only of following:

RETO
V1 continued
S.E. ILS (A/P on)
S.E. Missed approach
S.E. Landing (normaly visual circuit)
Normal take off
Non precision approach. (A/P on)
Two engine missed approach
Two engine ILS (raw data manual for us so no A/P)
Full stop landing
1 emergency item (normally covered by the V1 with engine fire or an engine /APU fire on landing with evacuation)
2 abnormals (some red light on the ground, hot start, GEN of line etc)

For the dear devils that wanna fly the S.E. ILS or the non precision approach raw data no A/P the normal ILS is not required, the filosofy is that if you'll make it one engine, chances are big you will make it on two engines as well :)

And as far as i'm concerned the NDB with raw data no A/P is a emergency in itself ;)

That's the LPC format I've been flying for the last 20 years...........
How these relatively simple exercises take 2 hours FLYING time per pilot escapes me-provided that you don't transit to and from the instrument airfield for over an hour of course!

That was my point excactly, i think in the sim our record is like 45 minutes for one pilot (not including RH quallification for the OPC)

45 mins Beech.....................??
Did you have to do it all twice then?!!
;-)

P.S. Before the" LPC/TRE Police" kick-off.....................Only joking OK?!!

Forget the 45 mins.....that is a load of old BooŁo from the world of make believe.

In the good old days I ( as TRI/TRE) could do a (UK CAA) check ride in that time in a Hawker, easy.

Todays world is different, (unless the TRE/TRI is your brother), allow the 2 hours, unless LHS and RHS then add 20 mins extra.

I have just "done" a ( JAA) G550 LPC/OPC, and that took a total of 3h30 in the sim, but did include Cat 2 (25 mins), plus RHS (30 mins).

Dont know how much the TRTO charged, but as they say not my problem.

So budget for 2 hours, plus TRE/TRI, and airport related charges, and should be close to the mark.

Cambioso interesting comments below from your recent post

S.E. ILS (A/P on)

1 emergency item 2 abnormals

According to the CAA form 1187 for examiners to complete you should be doing a minimum of 3 emerg and 3 abnormal items in addition to the engine failures := also the SE ILS should be manually flown ! do hope all those tests over 20 years are valid ?

Glad to see your in the real world always has been about 2 hours.

it still not so clear as it is stated in the JAR that 8 hours of training must be completed prior to the check ride, what does thatmean? that it needs to be done in the aircraft but not airborne?

in addition my last check was a good two years ago but I am flying another jet, so obviously my IR is valid but not the BD700 rating.

I know it is very expensive but the boss says he doestn want to pay for the sim but he dosent mind if we use the aircraft.

So all I need is to find an examiner to run the check? no prior training?

can the check be done on a VP registered aircraft? outside the EU? my license is UK. I tried to get all these answers from the UK CAA but without any success

Thaks a lot!!!
