Some of you guys might not have had much to do with the Helicopter Club (in the UK) but they have arranged a safety day to encourage all of us to stay safe, fly safe, and not get lost. It’s being held at the Aviator Hotel at Sywell.

Lined up to talk are:

• Jonathan Smith from National Air Traffic Services. He’ll be explain what it is like to have to talk to all us lot and how they are there to help us avoid infringing controlled airspace.

• Graham Purchase from the Royal Institute of Navigation. He’ll be giving us hints on how to be better navigators, and how to use the modern aids that are now available.

• Phil Roberts from the CAA. He’ll be helping us stay out of the “Naughty Corner”.

• Mike O’Donoghue from the General Aviation Safety Council. Mike is a helicopter instructor, and has a wealth of experience in keeping us flying safely.

Together, they will be covering a range of practical helicopter matters designed to keep you, and other aviators safe and make your helicopter flying less stressful.

NATS are offering an Airbox Aware Infringement Warning Device for a Free Prize Draw. Airbox themselves will also be there to answer any questions you have about their products.

Matthew Day, one of the directors of Haywards Insurance will also be there, so you should have a chance to ask him if they can offer us any better rates!

And Pooleys are going to give everyone who attends a copy of their 2010 Pooley’s Flight Guide FREE!

There is a charge of £45.00 for the day - but this includes a 2 course buffet lunch and refreshments (no, not beer) throughout the day.

It’s an ideal date to meet other helicopter pilots, learn more about safe and accurate flying, and go home with a goody bag.

Please PM me if you are coming - it's open to all, and the Club would like to know rough attendance figures so that they can sort the catering and get enough copies of Pooley’s Flight Guide on site.

Sorry chaps, seems to have been edited out by er... me?

the start time is 10:30, and it should be finished by 16:30 latest, so plenty of time before dark.
