I live within 5 to 10 miles of a field that hosts the city's air show, and it's coming up soon. I was wondering what type of scanner I could buy that would allow me to tune to their frequencies (200-500 range)

I Dont think Asking on here is a very good Idea as will start off another
Legal debate about there use .
If your local to the field and a Spotter then you would have got
to know the local spotters and frankly there your best bet .For the
casual user suggest you Google things like AIRSHOWS (http://www.militaryairshows.co.uk/)-
all the information is there

It's legal to use scanners here in the United States, though

This has been asked a few times and I'm in the same boat, looking for a new toy. How very British that it was assumed you were "one of us"....

Dear me! Good luck .
