Saw this ac in Lusaka, zambia a couple days ago! Think a fair bit of survey done in the north of lusaka for the copper mining. Presume thats where it was heading.

I helped ferry FSA to Saudi and start the job in Medinah. Even after taking the loop off we were only getting about 140kts GS. She's got alot of drag with all the goodies on.

The lack of any educated response makes me wonder if anyone actually knows what they doing at Fugro!

I was very interested to read this thread. I flew FSA in Saudi Arabia in 2002 whilst working for Fugro. We were doing electro magnetic surveying back then for one of the big oil companies there. Those were some good times and I miss the Fugro Vans more than any other aircraft I've ever flown. I only did 240 hours on FSA according to my logbook but she was my favorite van out of all the Fugro ones.

FSA was still brand new back then. By the way, the registration ZS-FSA stands for Fugro Survey Aircraft. They also had another SSA which stood for Sub Saharan Africa because Fugro SA controlled the Sub Saharan region of the Fugro Aviation group.

I miss those days...

And SSA was followed by SSB (Currently in Brazil), SSC, SSD (crashed in Entebbe), SSE and OEE.
