Hi all

The Saudi Arabian AIP suggests that all aircraft flying within the Jeddah FIR need to be fitted with an ACAS II (which basically means TCAS). GEN 1.5.6 refers.

GEN 1.5.3.1.3 also suggests that 'aircraft engaged on domestic operations' require HF radio.

Anyone got any experience of operating GA aircraft in The Kingdom who could confirm if these two requirements apply and/or are enforced? We've been invited to conduct some ops in Saudi but our aircraft doesn't meet either of these requirements, and we're yet to discover whether our clearances and permissions would exempt us from them.

Are Zimex still in Saudi? What kit do they carry?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered. :ok:

There are flight school aircraft that I'm sure arent fitted with HF, plus a number of mission aircraft such as ZS-FSA and the Zimex TwinOtters, so it doesn't appear that the rule is set in stone...............

Good Luck
