Is there much cargo coming from Japan at the moment and why is the price of freight so expensive compared to everywhere else?

about 16,000 tonnes/month

Alitalia, Air France, KLM & Britisha Airways all seem to have given up & withdrawn the freighters. JAL have about halved the freighter capacity - and that will be disappearing by october. Just leaves CLX and NCA.

On the pax ops side - JAL alone chopped 50% capacity (at least) .

So it's supply & demand - the supply has gone & the demand has pushed prices back up.

Makes sense now as a lot of firms have pulled out of Asia. I read in the times that the air freight sector is on it's knees in Japan. I would of thought they would encourage business to use air instead of sea as the price of containers is silly.
I got a price on air freight for a car a few days back..........£25,000
It was £3500-5k last year silly prices at the moment. Anyone got any ideas?

Isn't KLM/AF or LH starting their Japan freighter again? how about BR sure they had a freighter into KIX a while ago.
