As we all know, the cost in the UK of obtaining a PPL and CPL is absolutely extortionate but after looking into training in Canada, for PPL and CPL training and license is comes to around $30,000 - which ever way you look at it is a damn sight cheaper than the UK.

However, I was wondering what would you have to do to convert these to British standards (and the cost) and what would happen concerning an ATPL?

What are your opinions on training somewhere like Canada?

Thank you.

There is a company in Moncton New Brunswick that is training hundreds of Chinese pilots for their airlines. Try this link Welcome to Moncton Flight College (http://www.mfc.nb.ca/)

That's Harv's Air Pilot Training, Flight Training School Learn to Fly! (http://www.harvsair.com). Talk to Adam Penner. 265 clear days a year round Winnipeg!

And if working in Canada at the same time you can deduct the training costs from your tax. It's rarely mentioned on here but on my training it saved me big bucks (many thousands).

Remember to add in the conversion costs.

Contact OAS at Ottawa airport, nice combination of controlled field plus uncontrolled strips, great tourist town and lots of places to rent, plus in house testing.

Good point about the tax, but make sure the school has the right certificates!

Yeah, tax is certainly a pain in the rear-end when wanting to work out how much stuff costs. Is it 13% over in Canada?

What would be needed to convert Canadian Licenses into UK ones, would it be really expensive?
