Pilot exodus hits Kingfisher (http://www.business-standard.com/india/news/pilot-exodus-hits-kingfisher/403715/)

"
Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines is flying into turbulence. More than 150 of its pilots have left in the past year-and-a-half, citing various reasons. Even though others have joined, the current shortage is estimated at 35 pilots, forcing the airline to ground some of its aircraft, cancel leaves of flight commanders, and put senior executives from the operations department on flying duty. "

"“The airline is facing a shortage of at least 35 pilots in the Airbus A320 fleet,” a Kingfisher executive said on the condition of anonymity. Another said the airline had told the pilots they should go on leave only if absolutely necessary. It has put at least 12 senior executives from the operations department on the flying roster to bridge the gap in the cockpit. "

"Another Kingfisher executive said the airline had been forced to ground some of its aircraft owing to the pilot shortage. “About 12 of our aircraft are grounded at the moment. Some due to spare parts shortage, but a few because they do not have pilots to operate them,” the executive said."

Don't know that they'll recruit now, but if they have no option other than recruiting then they might go for the type rated guyz only, because as you can read they are in desperate need of both commander's and FO's so they wouldn't like to waste time on fresher's.

Bad news for the expat pilot. If KF folds then all their pilots seeking employment in India will have to be given jobs by Indian carriers. The DGCA will make sure of that.:ouch:

@NGFellow ,

I do not think would DGCA intervene in case Kingfisher Folds.

All Pilots, Expat or Indian, on Contract or Permanent, are bound by the Agreement with Kingfisher Airlines Ltd. DGCA is not going to utter a word. just like it did not when Paramount folded.

Sorry mate, but an airline folding is bad for ALL INVOLVED: pilots, either national or not, creditors etc...why you particularized expats?
I won't bet 10 rupees that DGCA will ever be closely involved in forcing airlines in accepting pilots comig from werever they come...
