View Full Version : Are there two PPrune URLs?

I am able to access a plausible PPrune site by typing (P)PPRUNE (http://www.pprune.org.uk) which brings up what seems to be an up to date set of forums , but when I try to add to a forum it tells me that I haven't logged in.

If I do the www.pprune.org URL it all works fine.

Whats the score with the org.uk one?

cheers

Thanks for pointing this out - I have passed the info on to IB.

If you have entered a username and password there I would change it on the proper PPRuNe.org - just a precaution.

I always assumed it to be an alternative address for the main PPRuNe site. Has it been harvesting my details?

The website there contains this:

<HTML>
<HEAD>

<title> (P)PPRUNE</title>

<meta name="keywords" content=" ">

<meta name="description" content=" ">

</HEAD>
<FRAMESET ROWS="100%,*" FRAMESPACING=0 FRAMEBORDER=0 BORDER=0>
<FRAME SRC="http://www.pprune.org" SCROLLING="AUTO" NORESIZE FRAMEBORDER=0 BORDER=0 MARGINHEIGHT=3 MARGINWIDTH=3>

Curious. After reading this I hopped straight across to the .org.uk version and it welcomed me as being already logged in (as Bern Oulli). It looks exactly like this one.

As far as I can see, it's simply a redirection to PPrUNe.org, but it is not operated by IB.

It may well be harmless, but clever things can be done with invisible frames, so treat with caution.

Well they point to different IP addresses.

Results from ping and tracert show:

www.pprune.org -> 67.201.16.181

(P)PPRUNE (http://www.pprune.org.uk) -> 72.1.201.152 and appears to terminate in Canada.
