Two planes made emergency landings at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport on Tuesday night, NOW Lebanon’s correspondent reported.

A Gulf Air jet heading to Bahrain had to land in Beirut after the cockpit’s windshield cracked at an altitude of 36000 feet, the correspondent said, adding that the cause of the incident is unknown.

The captain of the plane, which was en route from Athens to Bahrain, asked the Beirut airport control tower for permission to make an emergency landing according to Lebanon’s National News Agency reported.

Gulf Air flight number 042 an Airbus A319, which was carrying 101 passengers was able to land safely at 9:43 pm.

Nobody was injured during the plane’s emergency landing, the correspondent also reported.

Also, a Royal Jordanian Embraer 170 jet on decent over Chikka VOR hit a large bird, but landed safely, the correspondent added.
