FARNBOROUGH England (Reuters) - Boeing Co and Dubai's Emirates on Monday announced a deal for 30 of Boeing's 777-300 extended range planes, a deal worth potentially more than $9 billion.

Let me be the first to say "whoop-tee-doo" as I head off to India in one of their 777-300 long range planes.

I think they are also getting eleventy-three 380s and a carbon-fibre golf cart to ferry our betters between their offices and the spa in the bouncy castle.

Hopefully this will help some of the manning problems that such a huge plane order will generate. It has also been disclosed that a finalized version of Microsoft's 777 Professional Flight Simulator has been modified with a new "fly-by-internet" system that will allow us to fly from home when on SK(F), SK days and days off!

The FCI will be out in the next OM-A release with the following details:
1. EK won't pay for the program installation but will cover a portion of our internet bill. (Etisalat only. Du users will not be accomodated).
2. All communications will be via relay to the company supplied phone (Captains only) or at reduced cost to the First Officers.
3. All flights will be paid at a flat rate of 99 AED / hour.
4. Productivity pay will not be affected.
5. Costa Coffee will offer a limited delivery menu for crew residing in company-furnished accomodation. Vouchers may be submitted to Fleet within 15 days of "flight" for full reimbursement.
6. Home spot checks will be done to ensure pilots are wearing full uniform while on virtual flight deck though, as with actual operations, ties are not required.
7. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed, though shellfish may be consumed.

As shown on Quest Means Business, Etihad is there with the A330F. It's parked by the A380.

Are the 777-300ERs incremental or instead replacement aircraft for existing/older 777s?

Nice to see some growth on the Boeing side for 777 drivers. Still, with 95 A380s and perhaps 100 A350s on order, looks like the Airbus side will see most of the growth going forward (unless more Boeings are ordered at the next big airshow).

Does EK have any interest in 787s? Is it too small in terms of capacity for their liking? I think QR, GF and EY have 787s on order...

As I understand it starting from 2011 EK will start to phase out the 330/340 and the 777 300s. Thats 68 planes. Not sure at what rate and who knows what will really happen.

Indeed DXB will never be able to finance these (or any other) Aircraft!

Its a good job therefore that Emirates (a profitable business), will be seeking the finance!!

**Jeez, how many times do we have to go over the same old ground before the 'thicko's' on these forums get it??:ugh:

Wet vee two,

I think you need to go and discover the meaning of Sarcasm.
You have become very defensive and serious for very little reason.

Relax, chill out.
