Hi All,

Spent an enjoyable Saturday at RIAT. It stayed dry this year, and the sun came out for the second half of the day. I didn't have enough lens for a few of the displays (always a problem with airshows) so I made do with the shots I could get. The weather didn't play for a few either, but this in no way detracted from the fun and enthusiasm of all the displays. They were most enjoyable.

All images are 1024px wide, but they will be resized for Pprune's rules. Click through for large.

Training theme. This featured the Grob, Tucano, Hawk, and a few others. The French Alpha Jet (which I failed to get any decent pictures of in the grey) put on a superb demo.

Tucano's very pretty retro paint scheme:

The Solo Hawk looked great too. Amusing X-Factor intro (same voice artist!).

The USAF C-17 turned out to be a real crowd-pleaser. They performed a takeoff, two parachute drops from 8000', and a tactical landing and reverse along the runway, followed by another takeoff, plus an elegant orbit at low level opposite crowd-centre.

The Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary display was amazing. I haven't done many warbird shows (bit remiss of me really) but the sight of so many of these aircraft was pretty stirring to say the least. The Lancaster performed a stunning, unannounced arrival from the rear of the crowd. Some highlights:

The 109 Buchon. There was a stunning 109G with the original engine but I didn't get a decent photo of it :(

Lanc, panned at 1/60 for a bit of motion. One of the few that came out sharp:

More to follow as I have them.
