how you know the work schedule?

Hello! Could you please share with your experience of work. My girlfriend is the stewardess :rolleyes: and she calling every day to dispatcher to get the information about next flight. Taking into account that all 2000 employees are doing the same , the telephone numbers (only 3) they are calling to is permanently busy. :ugh: By the way, it's actual not only for stewardesses but for pilots also.

That's why I'm interesting how it works in your countries – how do you know about the next flight you'll work in?

Most airlines give a roster to each crew member which lets them know what they are doing for the whole month.

Some airlines let their crew access their roster over the internet by way of a company internet site and by using their staff no. and a password.

Most airlines do give crew some standby duties but not for the whole month. If these standby duties are done at home it is normaly the company that phones the crew member not the other way around.

It sounds an unusual system your girlfriends airline is using.

A freind who used to work for an Eastern European airline used to tell me that they regularly rang him on his days off to do duties on the same day! Luckily, in the UK (and I understand in all other European countries) once your days off are published this cannot be changes, and if due to disruption you work into your day off the airline must give you that day off back. That said, although published days off and leave cannot be changed, but, at my (low-cost) airline at least, any changes during your days on are permitted, within flight time limiltations.
Also, you must be told of any changes for your next duty at the end of your duty, so you cannot finish a duty not knowing when your next one is and what it is. The next duty can only be changed when you actually report for it,then you can be given a different one, but since you have already reported, flight time limitations will apply.

I can imagine your partner's airline's operations must be completely chaotic! Can't be a good work-life balance for her either, never knowing when she has to report next! This whole situation sounds very odd to me.

Can you tell us Andru, is there such a thing as flight time limitations in Russia? I would be interested to know how long duties you can do, how much is minimum rest between duties, hoiw many days you can work continuously, how many days off a month you must be given, etc.

bondim, yes we have a time limitation 80 hours per month. This is law.
With crew member confirmation up to 8 hours per month might be added as overtime.
Totally in the frames of law maximum 88 hours per month might be reached.
Minimum rest between duties is 12 hours.
Maximum duty time might be up to 16 hours in case of double crew. In case of standart crew (as an example 4 cabin attendant in Boeing 737-500 ) the 12 hours per duty is allowed.

BUT!
Usually in the russian companyes like my girlfriend works unformally asking to work up to 110 hours per month. In principle crew attendant may disagree with this overtime, but it's not welcome by management.
Formally for all control organizations airline will provide the information with max. 88 working hours per crew.

Because a lack of crews in Russia, the is no days off, especially in summer time. It means that crews have a rest only for sleep.
