So what are your thoughts on the new uniforms? Other than the guys and the female SP, the rest look pretty similar to me. Money well spent? What are the numbers? 7000 odd cabin crew plus ground staff? Then again, I know nothing about fashion. I wonder if we will get a new uniform in the near future? Actually I just want one that is tailored correctly. :}

Havent noticed the CC's new outfits yet... but since we're on uniform adjustments, how about ditching those ridiculous double breasted suits for the skipper - and maybe taking half a stripe off the S/O's, they don't quite look stupid enough carrying just the one.

That's funny... to me it's the single-breasted jacket (that everyone but the skipper wears) that looks ridiculous! Makes us look like waiters...

I would love to see the end of the polka-dot effect on the ties though, and I won't shed a tear if we lose the hats ;)

Guys... It's a uniform and we should all look the same... in double breasted if I'm asked. In fact, when this uniform was introduced we were indeed asked and the Capts majority vote was for the double breasted and the S/Os & F/Os for single breasted. That's what we got.

On a point of deportment, it is easy to wear the single breated jacket undone but not the double breasted, so perhaps the uniform police should revert to double breasted so we all look smart. It is our uniform after all.

For those who are not proud to wear it perhaps a few moments of introspection are required!

so perhaps the uniform police should revert to double breasted so we all look smart.Perhaps the reason for the split between Capt/FO/SO vote lies with Wikipedia

Double-breasted suit jackets were popular from the mid 1930s until the mid 1950s, and again from the early 1980s to the mid 1990s. Today, double-breasted jackets are not as popular and are considered very conservative.Double-breasted - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-breasted)

I am proud of my $2.50 hat :ugh:

No really Max I am proud to wear Cathay colours but the quality is somewhat embarrassing! NOt to mention the lack of uniformity in the Jackets.

FO4EVA,

You raise an interesting point.... Conservative....

Is that not exactly the image we should be trying to portray?

Don't mind the hat, but it is the cheap belt that pisses me off. It stinks of the worst cheap plastic..........

Why do we even wear uniforms? The public never sees us anyway. We go from Cx City by HAS bus directly to the airplane. Get in FD. One guys does walkaround but is covered by vest and doesn't wear a hat so looks like everyone else. Then everyone gets on and never sees us. Then we arrive, wait for peeps to deplane and get off. At that point no one even knows what airplane you got off unless they saw you do it.
I dont necessarily believe we should ditch the uni. Just thought I'd play devils advocate and see what others think.

Gee, there's a big surprise -- the same old farts that wear black socks and dress shoes with shorts, or checkered shorts with their knee-high white socks and white golf shoes on their layovers picked the double-breasted jackets! Almost as bad as the Italian FO that wears his tie about 5 inches short of reaching his belt and has a knot about the size a big orange! :yuk:

I think airline pilots should wear double breasted jackets...or at least decent single breasted ones. The ones we have now are awful buttoned or not.
