Haemochromatosis and flying?

Just looking for some advise for a friend who flies. They have been diagnosed with a condition called Haemochromatosis, which in simple terms I believe is a case of having to much iron in the blood, the treatment is to give blood weekly\fortnightly\monthly depending on the severity.

Has any one else who flies any experience of dealing with this?

One in ten of us Irish have it you know....highest incidence worldwide. The bloodletting can be weekly at the start, but then it can be dealt with every few months.
