Hi Guys , it's been about 10 years since the fatal crash of SQ 006.I had followed the crash and it's subsequent investigation closely.I wanted to know about the flight crew.I know that the relief pilot is still with SQ and did not lose his job. What happened to the Captain and FO and where are they today?Hope to get some light on this especially from the SQ drivers.:ok:

Singapore airlines SQ 006 & SQ 030 (9V-SPK & 9V-SPL) on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/13992793@N03/3941530602/)

Have read that the Captain and Copilot were let go. Don't know if they ever got any other jobs as commercial pilots or their whereabouts today.

Thanks for putting up the accident report. Just a question.
Dont you guys think that SIA was a bit harsh on firing the pilots?
Its not just the pilots fault, a lot of things lined up together.

Um yeah.. It was their fault.
In a huge, inexcusable way.

It's been done to death in CRM classes around the world, and all the threats and pressures explained away. But it was definitely their fault.

But it's least likely that any of those two chaps would ever go barrelling down a wrong runway again. :ooh:

There was a newspaper report 2 years back that one of them got a job as polytechnic lecturer.

One of the cabin crew who got badly burned in the process of helping the pax out got her allowances cut and sued SQ for compensation and is now happily married with a child.

I disagree Slayerdude. It was a poor airmanship by both pilots. They both allowed to be pressured in a time when they should of had their sod's law detectors switched to bloody high.

Kudos to AK for giving a guy a 2nd chance!
Do think AK cares what they did before? If you have the hours for command and some sort of a license (Even those off the back of a cornflake pack are accepted) we'll take you... NO MATTER WHAT!!!

touch.... am not going to get into a slagging match....will continue to say that it could have happen to any crew... would be arrogant to presume otherwise.... the crew were never infact taken to task for poor airmanship.... contrary ...all that heard the FDR have concurred that it was the most professional flight deck they have heard right up to point of impact......(granted i wasnt privy to the FDR playback when I was in sin)
