UWS = Unit Weight Statement
Our cargo department would use this to transmit what cargo is being sent, it would include type of unit load device.. ie AKE/PAG (aircraft bins or pallets) serial number of ULD.... final destination.... gross weight.
This would be sent to central load control for aircraft trim planning purposes and then they would use this information along with excpected traffic load to issue LIR (loading instruction report).
The aicraft loading team/dispatcher would then use this LIR to load aircraft correctly.
UWS example:
Flight details here... ie BA707 12/JUL
.PAG80720BA/BGI/2307
.AKE14258BA/BGI/459
.PMC80733BA/GND/4606
Total gross weight: 7372
we used this message for every flight and our aircraft were boeing 747-400, Airbus 340-300/600
Hello thanks a lot for the answer

Yes the cargo dept use this message to transmit what cargo they are sending and it is used to produce LIR... we (traffic dept) would also send to CLP a required baggage bin breakdown that would be needed based on a formula in relation to booked passenger load..... they then use all this info to produce LIR.
No the destination station didnt receive a copy of UWS.... once aircraft has departed and LMC's have been action, CLP would produce an LDM and CPM and this would be sent to all stations that needed to know what the aircraft contained etc.
LDM = load distribution message what weights are in what hold and males/females/children/infants etc
CPM = Container pallet message, what bins/pallets are loaded where and the weight of each item, this would also contain details of any special loads/dangerous goods etc
