Hi there

I was just wondering how a valid British controller would go about applying for a position in Italy and if this at all possible? Would they need to go through Eurocontrol or ENAV?

Thank you

Are you joking?

The agency for air traffic services is one of the WORST places to work with. No respect at all of contract and your rights, with trade unions corrupted.

A lot of italian ATCOS would leave the job immediately for another one....

Stay well away!

Tower/Approach or Center?!
If you're looking to be employed in a Tower/Approach facility you will need to speak Italian for sure due to the VFR traffic.
If you are rated in a Center (Italian's ACC are located in Brindisi, Padova, Milano and Roma) maybe could be easier as in the Upper Airspace you don't really need to speak it. Actually we coordinate in Italian with our sectors or other Italian units, but I think this could be easy to change in case of a non-italian speaking colleague coming in!

As far as I know we never had a ready entry... but there's always a first time. You have to ask to ENAV.

Italian level 4 proficiency would be probably required
