They've got a fleet of C209s with glass cockpits - you need 20 hours on type to get a look-in. Other 200 series Cessna time doesnt count, because of the unique characteristics of the 209.

They only have 2x 209's at the moment, as with the previous post, lot of politics at the moment. I hear on the grape vine that the original fleet on 209's that they returned to the Cessna factory in Tasmania for upgrades to the "Super" Series has caused them headaches, apparently Casa doesn't like the combination of STOL kits and the new sweep back wing design is no good for Tindal. Apparently Tindal won't allow swept wing aircraft due wake turbulence or aircraft >5700kg due the thickness of the runway. With the installation of the new supercharged engine and the G1200 glass cockpits it has made the MTOW 5750kg.

A question for the Katherine pilots, how do you find the engine controls on the touch screen. I see that there are no manual throttle, prop or mixture controls. What happens if you have an avionics failure. There is a YouTube video of the testing phase doing full power landings, demonstrating a touch screen failure and hence a loss of engine controls. Quite interesting really. Suprising though, he managed to get it onto the touchdown bars and pulled it up in about 100m.

That's the old 80's model, the new 209's are composite, same as the skycatcher

Could fit a camp dog or two in there. W&B will be an interesting exercise if the 206 method of ballancing (push on tail if it stays down shift load or apply more power to taxi:eek:) is any indication.
