Another option could be via GRU and JNB. GRU-JNB-MRU could be all be done on SAA, so may be more cost-effective.

Why not try a travel agent?
Or even Expedia?

I`d suggest a great circle route and some sort of aircraft, I hope that helps?

Cost effectively, Amadeus suggests BGI-LGW(VS)LGW-DXB(EK)DXB-MRU(EK) return.

We aren't allowed to quote fares on here yet if I were to say a man earns £5 an hour, it would take him 300 hours to pay it for one person if it was made on a random date in September!:ok:

I like interesting routes. So here's one in case your friend does too.

From 26 June, Brazilian airline Gol starts twice-weekly flights by 737-300 from Barbados to Sao Paulo. From there, you can take either a South African A340 direct to Johannesburg, or route on Angola Airlines 777, then 747, via Luanda. From Johannesburg you can go straight to Mauritius by South African 737-800, Comair 737-300 or Air Mauritius A319 or A340.

If you're looking for a speedy routing, your friend could take the weekly Condor 767-300 from Barbados to Frankfurt, continuing straight on to Mauritius after about 2 hours on the ground (FRA-MRU is twice-weekly on DE). The return link is slightly more leisurely, requiring an overnight at FRA.

An alternative via the Sao Paulo link includes Emirates GRU-DXB-MRU on 777s.
