Tried to set up a poll but no luck here. maybe someone else is able to?

A question:
Given VIPA is running along now and recognised (+MBF), wouldn't it be a grand idea to have it representing all Virgin Blue Group pilots, so they are all "on the same page"?

Thoughts?

Yes, but if you think Poly employs pilots (or anyone else) you're clearly not part if the airline.

Poly is just the brand that flights to/from Samoa operate under. PB crew/aircraft.

V pilots are covered by VIPA.

PB are welcome to join.

Yes, I'm aware of that (diff. reg. company & AoC, crewing covered by PBEC, 1.4mill profit 6mths to Dec'09 AFTER write-offs etc etc).

It seems sensible for the arms to know what the legs are doing etc.

Swanrider,

I'm not sure what you are getting at here other than soliciting for VIPA

The fact is that both the AFAP and VIPA represent the VA pilot group. The AFAP is the sole respondent to the current VB EBA however VIPA is invited to company - union meetings.

VB management/HR have gone out of their way to nurture VIPA to make it relevant, even before it was a registered organisation. A questionable alliance, one would suggest, hatched soley to drive division into the pilot group.

Yes the pilot group needs to be united but VIPA is not the answer.:=

Thanks Tangan and no I'm not soliciting anything, only thought it may be a logical step. Possibly time that all parties were at the one table, knowing each others T&C's, instead of fractured and arguing crew, spreading untruths on o/nights.

Swanrider,

VIPA does NOT have MBF now and will NEVER have MBF, if VIPA reps are telling you their product is MBF they are pulling your leg, and a cursory glance of the pds will verify that for you.:uhoh:

Ok. Good work.
There's one piece of info sorted out.

Swanrider - it would have been a "grand idea" if the disgruntled VIPA pilots had elected to stay with the AFAP and work for improvements from within this organisation.

Better to be pissing from inside the tent out, rather than outside in - comes to mind!

Alas we now have multiple groups all vying to represent the Virgin Group pilots.

A situation the company could only wish for!

I will smile when the next group of disgruntled VIPA pilots chose to leave that organisation to organise their own new representative body in search of this industrial nirvana that some of our peers believe in.

I wonder how long it will be before a conflict of interest will arise, and AIPA screw over the VIPA, to serve the "greater" good.

VIPA would do well to study AIPA history to see how well they have promoted the interests of other bodies outside of QF mainline.

Yes, good point Maui (+ Ad-A) and the head of the International AIPA's speach recently in Australia, was a great one and worth reprinting here, as it had many relevant points that are very topical with current managerial practices.

Swanrider is right though, as it is time to stop the rubbish between groups and get around a table right now, face to face, to sort out the division, conditions & rumours company wide.

Good luck. Seriously.:ok:

Sure, and given how these things work amongst the Pacific Islands, I give it 12 months tops. The wreckage is there for all to see.

You AFAP apologists always remind me of a bunch of old men in safari suits and pith helmets, sitting in a British expat club, sipping iced tea and smoking pipes whilst extolling the virtues of the great British empire; A once powerful, but now crumbling, irrelevant organisation that bordered on fascism and served only to maintain its own grip on power to the very end.

The empire is dead. It's time to move on.
