Hi !
My first post here ;-)

I'd just like to share my work : "KeroZen", a Fuel Calculation software for Android phones. This simple application converts a mass into a volume, based on a given density. It can also back-compute the mass of a poured volume. Calculations are possible in kilogramms, pounds, litres, US or Imperial Gallons with appropriate density units.

MASTER CAUTION : I consider it still work in progress (this is version 0.8) mainly because I couldn't test it on a real device yet (I may get a Nexus One by the end of the month). However, it runs very well on the Android SDK emulator, in both resolutions 320x480 and 480x800.
So if you feel like a beta-tester, do not hesitate to download, install, use and, if possible, report bugs :)

"KeroZen" is absolutly FREE and OPEN-SOURCE software, and so will be the future releases !

Download KeroZen from SourceForge.net (http://sourceforge.net/projects/kerozen/files/KeroZen_v0_8.apk/download)

Installation:
- Because KeroZen is not available on the Market yet (need some "real condition" testing before), you'll have to get Apps Installer first (wich is free on Android Market).
- Copy KeroZen_v0_8.apk to the root of your phone's SD card.
- Launch Apps Installer, and choose "KeroZen".
- That's all Folks ! ;-)

Thank you for your attention...
Cyril

Having just acquired myself some shiny android newness, are there any decent aviation apps around? In the line of PilotWizz for the Iphone? Or indeed just any decent ones I should pick up that aren't in most of the "Top ten apps" articles on the web?

Looks like a nifty app. I did read somewhere that it is difficult to remove some or all apps on my Motorola. Seemed rather restrictive if true.

Given that I now let you youngsters work out the fuel requirements when I go flying as SLF, all I need for my Cliq XT is that nifty App that shows the constellations as you hold it up at different angles. I can't search for it cos I don't know what it's called. Anyone know? and if it's available for Android driven machines?

O,BTW, My phone has Aviation Mode, and it certainly won't even receive when in that state. Are airlines accepting this as safe . . . er, meaning, will most aircrew be aware of this 'Safe Mode?'

I've also just bought an HTC Desire android phone and wonder about aviation apps for it. I've heard there are many available.

The Android Aviation Apps I use are:

Intellipilot logbook
Aviation Weather with widget
IATA/ICAO Dictionary

All are great.

I think the app you're looking for is "Pocket Universe". I don't know if it's available for Androids, but I have it on my iPhone.

It uses the GPS to tell where you are, and the compass etc to tell where you're pointing it, and shows you what's in that part of the sky. You can move it around and spot/identify stuff.

It will allow the usual zoom in and look at the detail, but not in "sky search" mode.

An excellent app.

Hi.
I've downloaded the ZZtrop app. Great tool, but may I suggest one more feature? What about a save or custom settings? As most of my long flights are slipt in 4 and the first and second rests are, most of the time 4 hrs, I think would be nice to be able to save this "profile" instead of using the adjustment to reach the desired rest.

Again, great app.

Thanks
Rbranco

I've had a HTC desire for 4 months and so far it's been disappointing as far as aviation software possibilities. seems like lots of promises but no actual real useful stuff..
I'm using Sky deamon on my PC and that seems like the way to go, but nothing for android again? anyone want it cheap? looking for a Garmin 695/6 with Euro software:ugh:

To add to the list:

FlightTools E6B

Wind Computer

Basic apps at the moment, but this list was looking a bit light on, so I thought I'd share them.

Hello to all, I've read about an Av app that can identify aircraft just by pointing/aiming your smartphone at it. I'm hoping to find that this app is avail for N8 sym ^3 phones and hopefully would work in South Africa.

Thanks in anticipation.. :ok:

You can get a version of this Flightradar24.com - Live Flight Tracker! (http://www.flightradar24.com/) for Android and I phone, but the data is mainly European and some Northern America.
