Has anybody personal experience of this airport ? Should anybody be interested it's code is VQPR .
I have checked the Bhutan AIP and I also read an flight test report, Boeing carried out with a 737-300 in 2003.

Would be greatful for any information about it.

Thank you !

Our office operated a GLEX in/out of there about 18 months ago. It is required that a Druk Air pilot, familiar with the airport, be on-board for the arrival. He was picked up in Mumbai, IIRC. VFR only, arrival is down a long valley, with the field unseen until about 1 mile final, hence the reason for the "navigator". Weights can be quite limiting, as you would expect. Jeppesen ITP has handled some trips thru there and should be able to assist. Crew stayed near the airport for several nights and toured around.

This is the approach to 15:

and this is the approach to 33:

The 15 approach is a doozy.

Thanks for the info, GF. Do you know if they did any special performance calculations from Bombardier or they used just standart stuff.

PL, thanks, but unfortunately i can't see any pictures if there are any.

The field elevation is within the GLEX perf charts, so no need for special engineering. BUT, we use Aero Performance Group runway analysis, who does produce a special departure procedure and a runway analysis for VQPR. The IFR weights are quite limiting, about 69,000 for the GLEX at ISA+10. You will need to do the research for your particular plane and planned arrival/departure and show to the Bhutan DGCA. Also, permits are limited, so plan well ahead. You will be required to work with Druk Air. It is all doable, if planned ahead.
