Apparently 200 (Captains & FO's) recently recruited. Does anyone have details?

I have heard of ex-Olympic drivers going through the OCC at the moment. But 200..that's extremely doubtful. I would also be willing to bet that none were FOs. Purely 737 rated Captains.

Things are bad in Greece but I very much doubt there are that many pilots sat around. Or is the Tinker King thinking of having a go at the Greek market?

Well, they (the Greeks) were never going to get a gig with THY, were they?

You'd be surprised

There where a number of Greeks flying for Turkish companies on the A300's. Met them in JED and MED quite a few times.

Correct, and there are in fact Greek 737 pilots hired by THY.
Is Ryanair going to open a Greek base, at VOL perhaps?

Apparently, only 12 ex-Olympic Airlines 737 capt's joined Ryanair.
No way 200!!!
As ex-Olympic 340 driver, I know that only those arrived, and some 10 more to join.
As far as 340 cpts, 8 joined HI-FLY.
About 300 remain home, waiting to join "office jobs" in the HCAA dep.
What a shame, really!:ugh:

Hi Oxo.., It was offcourse just waste of human capital, not to use the ex OA Drivers in NOA.. What will the 300 guys be doing at HCAA, since they are allready tremendously overstaffed. I suppose the 300+ guys want to fly i.s.o drinking Frappee and doing SAFA for HCAA.
Perhaps a jump to FR is not so bad at all, the only disadvantage is that they still did not open a base in Greece.
There are still many job opportunities for 737 drivers especially for cpts..
When I was at YYZ and saw your A340 being pushed-back knowing that it was the last month of ICA-OPS for OA, I really felt bad.
Is Michalis in SMI all the time, greetz,

Blessed are the meek? Oh that's nice isn't it....they don't get very much do they...

Again, I have to inform, that approx. 100 to 120 will go to the HCAA. The others already applied for pension, which in this case, they will receive the 70% of their last salary. Take also in account, that drivers in New OA, are earning LESS than those in retirement, and those who will go to HCAA.
In the other "hand", taking in account, the market, it is impossible for A340 drivers, to find a flying job. First, because there aren't jobs for this plane, except KAL, and secondly, most of us, are "out of the cockpit" for approx. 6 months now.
So, most of us now, are re-evaluating our B737 rating, and will eventually apply for a job later.....
Best rating today, 320 family, b737, a330, and ATR.:}

I would think Emirates would be a popular destination for former Olympic pilots... I know Airbus pilots hired onto the A330/A340 fleet at EK. So, there are widebody Airbus positions available... Seems like several ME airlines are hiring.

Regardless, somebody has to hire the Greek pilots to prevent them from RIOTING...
