Don't do it. Get a job first. There are hundreds if not thousands of 737 pilots out there looking for work with no hours on type up to thousands of hours on type.

Don't pay for a type rating unless you have a job offer already, in which case see where they would prefer you to go.

Other than that, sorry, no advice to offer...

I think TR B737 is the worse type rating right now in the world. I am one of that pilots at home without job and experince on type. I know threre are B737 pilots with experience about 2000 hours on type and they have to accept a job (salary 1000eur), not bad if the other option is to be at home.....but i have friends they never stopped flying with ATR, Airbus,..(6.000eur.) So you can do it and then after 1 or 3 years please write here explaining what happened. In my case and others now it is too late to go to the past.

Pardon my ignorance, I can' t help but wonder what a B377-300NG looks like?

Does it still have a nose that looks like it was stolen from the A380 and put upside down?

Good Luck if you chose to pay for a type rating.

One question you have to ask yourself is if another job comes up after you have done your type rating on a different type of aircraft would you be able to pay it again. i.e if you get a B737 TR and someone offers you an o/f on a kingair and said to you, you can have the job if you pay for the class rating then could you pay for the rating again?

why boeing and not airbus? they are building more airbus aircraft than boeing at the moment?

why not a q400?
If your after a jet job then there is still very little around + remember the prop aircraft pilots will be looking to upgrade.

what will do about SOP when doing your TR, which airline will you mirror, get this area wrong and it will be a waste of money.

So you do to Dubai and get the type rating, then you need to pay for the all important base check. Hiring a 737 or 320 for that is quite expensive, SO Mae another 5000 euros?

But it will not land you a job, without experience on type it is worthless.:ugh:

I don`t recommend Aerostar to anybody. They wanted to charge me thousands of $ just to send me the CBT which costs them 1$ just to "stick" me to them.
That why I don`t recommend them to anybody.

Just as an aside....
I do hope that those of you on this thread who are quoting prices and intentions of doing TRs that you actually have a job to go to when it is done.

Please, please, please! No matter how much money you have to spare, do not buy a TR until you have a job.

Horror story for you:

Guy goes out and buys a 737 TR and 200 hours on type in the hopes that he gets a job with all this new "experience on type".

Finishes TR, goes home and sure enough the phone rings with a guaranteed job, ready to roll in eight weeks......on an A320.

Trust me, it hurts...you'll kick yourself....for hours.

Do not buy a TR. You are putting the cart before the horse.
