There is a great deal of hoohah about flying millions of hours each month and we all seem to be flying more that each other :confused: so I thought I would do a quick test to see.

If you can be bothered please state:

737 Capt. Europe: flew just over 600 hours last year. It has varied between 6 and 7 hundred hours with some time out for other stuff over the last few years. Managed 25 days skiing with my kids last winter and did a bit of training.

First year: 480 block hours. Avg 9 days/mo off, 9 nights in downroute hotels.

Used to fly 750 hrs/year as an A320 FO, with a bit more off days.

40h of sim, between Sandbags and normal LPCs/OPCs...

Now I changed airline, but it is quite similar... :-)

last 12 months in BA = 855hrs over 94 sectors but did at one point get up to 893:10 on a rolling year basis
last 6 months in BA = 98:59hrs highest month, 46:40hrs lowest month with leave and 470hrs total.
highest ever month = 113:56 in 1999:ouch:

Rolling 365 days constantly varying between 890 and 920 hours over approx 440 sectors. Duty hours oscillate around 1380 per year.

(Of those hours about 50 are teaching in the simulator)

Nice little trend seems to be appearing, really need a larger sampling, however us Bizjockeys seem to be struggling reaching 300 a year and the airline guys seem to be struggling staying under 900.

Oddly enough, you do more as you go up the seniority list, the guys at the bottom on "blind lines" do less flying than "trip line" holders. Although trip line holders have influence over their rosters.

810 in last 365 days, all though this is increasing, I achieved 99 hrs and 47minutes in 27 days during August and was rewarded with two day of "High hours contactable" and still achieved 106hrs for the month of August.
