On airliners.net there is a discussion about the retirement age of Flight Attendats at various airlines - in the US you can stay as long as you pass the emergency training which is annual in America. Airlines like Lufthansa have a retirement age of 65

Was curious as to whether QF force their crew to retire at a certain age?

Qantas used to required Cabin Crew to retire at 55. Females had to retire when 35 or when married or pregnant. changes to the Anti discrimination laws were introduced progressively from the 70's 80's and finally in the 90's all proscribed retirement ages were made illegal.

As result flight attendants can continue to fly for as long as they wish. I think the oldest flight attendant in Australia at present would be in his/her late 60's.

generally however at Qantas...there have been regular voluntary retirement packages on offer over the last 10-15 years and because crew can get 4 weeks pay for every year of service it becomes a great incentive to retire with a large lump sum severance package where only a small amount of income tax is paid
