Persistent rumours of Aero getting really bad :uhoh:

Talking drums are saying that it's a matter of months , maybe weeks, before Aero will collapse.

In a last attempt to attract passengers, Aero is promoting their 3 000 Nairas tickets, " why go by road " :ugh:

If one of the greatest institutions in the Aviation sector goes down due to certain individual’s greed, then I suggest these individuals get the JJ treatment. With no accountability, what hope does Aviation in Nigeria have?:{

Sorry to say but there has never been any hope for the aviation in Nigeria for very obvious reasons.
The first thing that comes to your mind when hearing the name Nigeria is FRAUD/GREED.

Oh dear ... now all the 'NaijaNinja, or whatever they call themselves are going to come out and say that this statement is 'racist'. One only has to look at the history of aviation and many other things in that part of the world to see that it's simply the unpalatable truth.

I think such a sweeping generalisation is worthless.

What comes to your mind when you think of "Holland"? Cheese, hash bars and whores! Well, yeah, if that is about all you know about a country that isn't even named "Holland," since there is a bit more to it than that.

Whatever the image of a country is, when my own adopted one, Germany (Hitler, Hitler and Hitler, basically, plus a tiny bit oompah "music," beer, beer and beer and Hamburg's Reeperbahn if you are a cosmopolite) doesn't exactly stand out, image-wise, how much does that have to do with its reality? Perhaps not very much.

Should one worry about how someone basically ignorant sees this or that country? Why? It is not as if Nigeria is depending on tourism, is it? You just have this monoculture, everything revolving around the export of a lot of oil and a bit of gas, a huge cash cow that should continue for quite some time despite decades of yes, "FRAUD/GREED" when people will still come bringing their necessary skills with them to keep this creaky system running. Or it collapses so that you end up with people living in the shells of abandoned aircraft parked on a silent airport, the Apocalypse! (When I first reached sunny Ikeja there was a small family living in an abandoned white Jaguar saloon car, chickens sat on the bashed-in roof, right there next to NEPA at Ikeja Roundabout, like something out of Mad Max.)

Of course there's hope for aviation in Nigeria. Perhaps not a lot but hope, sure! You could even take the collapse of this or that mismanaged company to be a hopeful sign, something that must send a message to anyone ready to listen.

Meanwhile there is still the Mobil Flight Department, just for one, out there getting the job done under local supervision for quite some time now, accident-free. To look at Nigeria from the outside and pronounce it doomed, DOOMED, is just being a bit silly. When this latest breath-taking adventure, Arik, finally reaches its end, as seems possible, well, who knows? Perhaps those anti-corruption people will venture into its ruins to shoot some of the survivors and send a message to the rest. Not likely, of course but stranger things have happened. Look at Ghana, for instance.

Guys, from all these gr8 comments, aviation in Nigeria is moribund,so what is NCAA going to regulate in a few months from now,why are flying schools still filled with wannabe pilots?who are the ultimate losers?who are those getting paid half salaries?or no salaries/jobs?The ultimate losers I guess is most of the doomsday contributors,I hope we all grab that, and start looking for new jobs as analysts in a dying sector. Eish:rolleyes:

I'm suprised that your normaly up beat post's now mirror the present doom and the eventuality that is to come at Aero.
Your are not normaly the depressive sort that post's on this board. However i guess that this time when seeing the light at the end of the tunnel getting Bigger and Bigger you finally time to start looking for another job.
GHB.

P.S Didn't get time to say good bye, but anyway i was a pleasure to work with you.

I am responding to your crap simply because you mentioned NaijaNinja otherwise, you are not worthy of any response. It looks like your clogged up Medulla Oblongata is seriously affecting your thought process.

My question to you nitwit is: what makes you think Fiero88 isn't black or black African? Is it simply because he posted from Holland? Trust me, in case you were not taught in school (if you ever attended one), people from Holland (a.k.a Dutch Nationals) can be BLACK!

So, don't flipping ASSUME, because if you do, you are making an ASS of U & ME. I sure know you didn't succeed with ME!

You make me chuckle with your 'that part of the world' comment, you condescending so & so..

Get a life and sort out your rascist tendencies!

Actually, i challenge you or anyone to name a Fraud-free & Greed-free country on this planet. Forget all this Transparency International ratings, let's be real here.

Neither you nor Fiero88 is saying anything new about Nigeria, you simply cross the line with your 'rasicst' crap, sometimes, just shut your gob!

Capetonian

NaijaNinja

The reality is that you don't know what a racist is (you can't even spell the word!), you don't know whether or not I am a 'racist', you don't know what you are talking about, and you have allowed your anger to reduce your response to one which is simply abusive and hollow.

Of course there is no fraud free or corruption free country or entity on this planet, we all know that, but Nigeria is pretty much at the top of the list in all the ratings, and you know that, but just don't want to face reality.

If you wish to call me a 'rascist' or a 'rasicst' that's absolutely fine by me, but be a good boy and do a little research before you throw these things around.

By the way people 'from Holland' are Caucasian if you want to go back in history, and as such cannot be black. As a result of colonisation and immigration over the centuries, of course there are Dutch people and nationals who are black, and many of them are very worthy individuals, but it's not quite the same. If saying this appears in your eyes to align me with the BNP (I take you know who they are?) then so be it.

This has nothing to do with the colour of a person's skin and everything to do with attitude, values, and behaviour.

Finally, how do you know I am not 'black'? There are about 50 million blacks in South Africa.

I'm tempted to put you on my 'ignore' list but I get a chuckle out of reading your rants, so I won't for the time being.

Or you just haven't discovered that "Edit" function?

Meanwhile, what is happening with Aero? I thought this was going to be a bit sporty, going for the big-time with those 737s. Is that part of what has made the wheels come off?

Does anyone know what these two unwitting and witless comedians (dejidip and jaganmolu) are trying to say and to whom?

As someone said on an earlier thread, I've had emails from 419 scammers that made more sense. At least what naijaninja says is comprehensible.

One thing is obvious from your response, picking a mis-spelt word out of a post is certainly a huge scoring point for you, let's say it confirms you know what to look out for in a spelling bee. I want to believe that's not your greatest achievement in life!

Mind you, wrong spelling doesn't indicate wrong knowledge!

The knowledge you obviously have an abundance of is that of history. Wake up geezer, we live in modern times and so a blue man can come from any nation! We don't classify nationalities based on history anymore unless off course you have Nick Griffin's blood in you.

'''''''I'm tempted to put you on my 'ignore' list but I get a chuckle out of reading your rants, so I won't for the time being.''''' Hey mate, the feeling is so mutual like i said earlier that you are not worthy of any response!

I wish you happy landings though!

@ Capetonian

Nigeria is at the very top of the corruption list? I strongly suggest you go through the Transparency International Corruption Perception list for the year 2009. Hopefully you'll stop spewing more garbage about my country like you did in your previous post. Thank you.

I agree with you but that would only make the s**t stirrers happy like they did recently.

One thing i would say about the topic is that what i hear is nowhere near the doom prophesied by whoever.

Aero's issues i gather have been resolved, new agreements signed, opening up new routes next month and the month after, taken on some 6/7 new drivers most of whom will be getting assessed in an aircraft this saturday.

So people should tell us what they know, not hidden hints!

NaijaNinja

Maybe peppersoup should come out and tell us more about the rumours he mentioned.

If selling tickets at low prices is an indication of doom, then Ryanair & Southwest should have been buried eons ago. Aero's low fare campaign is a classic demonstration of what most people don't know. There's a concept in airline economics known as yield management, if you can maximise it, then you won't be left with plenty of the most perishable item in a consumer domain.

For those who don't know, an airline seat is one of the most perishable item around, once you close the doors, those unoccupied seats will never make a dime, so why not put some of those seats out at very low prices so that you can make some little change to pay the little bills?

I gather other airlines are catching the bug which seems to be a plus for consumers, but does this mean all the carriers are doomed? I would like to be enlightened further by those who know what i don't know.

Oga NaijaNinja

IMHO, the ticket prize cut was an excellent business level strategy (cost leadership). You only have to see the stands of Aerocontractors during business hours to see how effective the strategy has been. The queues are really long :) .

Well, you got my drift, you've just confirmed what i hear about Aero's sales performance from an insider.

So, it would be nice to know what the real issue is with Aero's expected demise.

Balewa, what's the real issue?

Does the queue translate to revenue income?

Other carriers are not doing 3k tickets and they are also full:confused:

One would not like to have a class in yield mgt, however have you seen any airline that has a constant price on its routes? Aero may have 3000 Naira tickets however I know they also have 27000 naira economy tickets. question is are they able to mange their yiel at the optimum level?
