The overwing refuel point is not at the top of the wing so you cannot get a full refuel in this case. Engineers, please: HOW MUCH FUEL CAN WE PUT IN?

Thanks, LEM

Not much on the latest planes as the system is not built in anymore. :)

that's interesting, didn't know that!

Btw, we have almost 90 busses and all still have it.... ;)

Could well be an option now, worth having and have heard of it being used a few times either due to broken fuel manifolds or the only serviceable fuel truck (Africa of course) not having a underwing pressure coupling. Caps are pretty close to the end (on the A320 they are over the outboard tanks) so I reckon you will get all but 500kg a side on, maybe more. Centre tank can be filled by transfer from the wings.

Hi there, overwing refueling points are indeed into the outer tanks, in order to gravity refuel, the intercell transfer valves (320)have to be open via opening fuel panel or by CB's. This allows full refuelling of the inner tanks and as mentioned intertank transfer to fill the center tank. All in all this gives allmost a full refuel all be it a very long one. once filled you can then correct the config (A320) by topping up the outers from the inners. So Max is probably right that you'll lose only a couple of hundred if that. A bit extreme though:eek:

Hi Gypsy, the transfer valves, if not already opened during the last flight, have to be opened pulling the related cb's, as you mention, but the refuel panel must remain closed, if the airplane is electrically AC supplied, otherwise they will close as soon as you open the refuel panel.

Just read the AMM, for certain effectivities, to enable overwing refuel it says "If intercell transfer valves are closed, open panel 192MB" this will then reset them into the config required. Not unknown in maintenance for the config to be different because of previous tests.:)
