Greetings

I have heard a rumour that Flying from Dubai (Or Abu Dhabi) to European destinations and back, you are able to take a child safety seat from a car, belt it onto a seat in the aircraft and put the child in that. Is this inded true? Is it true in both directions? Is it the case for all or just some airlines or none at all?

Thanks

I can't speak for all airlines, but on Emirates, a car seat may be used as long as it has one of those proper safety approved stickers on it.

If you're traveling with an infant, you won't necessarily have a free seat to use it however. If the flight is full, unless you've purchased an individual seat for your infant you may find yourself with your baby on your lap and the car seat stuffed in to some hatrack somewhere.

Let the check-in staff know you're hoping to use the car seat in flight and that it (hopefully) meets the safety requirements. If they are able to, they should 'soft block' a seat next to you off to enable you to use it for the car seat. This means that the vacant seat will at least be one of the last to be used and should ideally remain yours unless the flight fills up.
