Do the CAA have any scope for leniency at all with class 1 hearing reqs? It would seem not from other peoples threads!!. .I had my hearing tested privately this week, all frequencies within 20db loss except for one freq in one ear, slightly out. . .In people's experience would this be immediately thrown out at a class 1?

Ring or write to the CAA and ask them. Or ask an AME. It is not a crime to find out and either you meet the required standards or you don't.

Good luck.

I sent an audiogram to the CAA Head AME with my hearing test and they said it would be unlikely. However, I have quite bad hearing loss in one ear.

If you have a copy of your audiogram chart, you can check it against the requirements at:

<a href="http://www.srg.caa.co.uk/pld/med/med_information.asp?page=/medical/SRG_MED_jaa_class_1_hearing_stds.htm" target="_blank">http://www.srg.caa.co.uk/pld/med/med_information.asp?page=/medical/SRG_MED_jaa_class_1_hearing_stds.htm</a>

I'm sure have read the stuff on the other thread so I wont go on!
