Much has been said about the pax affected by the last few days events. I do feel sorry for them where they may have missed family events/need to get back for whatever reason. But what about all the crews that have been "stranded"? Maybe they too were about to go on leave/attend a wedding/have an important event to attend. No mention of them. What about the Icelanders (terminology?) themselves (no not on this forum I know). Little been said on TV/Radio in newspapers. Why did reporters have to stand on aprons/taxiways/runway thresholds? Because they could? Didn't make the importance of the matter any more or less significant in my view. Standing by.....

Crews got stuck, yes but on full alowances, in my airlines case extra $$, internet, and probably a few more $$ for volcanic ash disruption. Plus lieu days when they eventually get back.
My next door neighbour, self employed, on a quick job in Spain. Still there, paying himself, dunno when he's going to get back, and for sure when he gets back he'll give the mrs his washing and back out he'll go to work.
Case of the real world perhaps :\

BA had 80 aircraft & 3000 crew stranded around the world, some up to10 days

FR at EMA 5 and 30

Bear in mind that a significant number would have been expecting to return that night so would only have minimal clothes/toiletries with them so had to buy hem down route!

(or one friend who ended up with a 1000 mile train, boat, train & car journey to report for duty)
