As I said before, it's very difficult to get an invite. Sometimes it takes a miracle? I don't know. CuteAfrican, your best bet would be to go to the Mombasa AD without the invite and hand them your CV and tell them to consider you for the December AD, and stay on and observe the AD process from outside the room. It'll give you a rough idea of what'll happen when you finally attend one at a later date. It might not be possible for you, however , to attend the September AD. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Cheers

If you need to give notice for your employer or other reasons, you can raise a query in the portal. However during Ramadan the working hours are shorter for a lot of staff so might take a bit longer.

Aside from that, many EK departments run as normal for the non-fasting employees. Might just be they processing the applicants with earlier DOJs first, I know it's hard but the call will come soon.

Butter-fly,

I think there is a problem with your phone number... Or they forgot to call you... I think you should contact them, it doesn't hurt...

My friend recently got the call 11 days after her interview: on a Friday!!! (Friday is supposed to be weekend here...) Her status changed 8 days after the FI. She's joining in October.

(This is the friend who went to Bratislava for an OD three weeks ago and had the perfect photo prepared and got so many questions from the recruiter during the FI. I wrote about her a couple of pages before. She made it!!!)

Good luck!

Hello everyone. I finally found a recent forum! I have been reading forums from 2003 and finally came across this one.

Anyways, Just curious. I have recently finished my final interview and handed in all my information. I feel my interview went great! I know they said that they may need 3 minutes or 3 hours in the final interview to get all information they need to asses our situations and where we stand with the company. I was pretty confident in my interview until I found out a few people had to do an "assessment" test some about math, others about psychological situations and brain patterns it seems. Not sure if its a good thing that I did not have to do one or a negative thing. Maybe they didn't see any potential in me to continue?
I found the people who had to complete them weren't very optimistic in their results of the interview and those who did not do the tests were very happy with their interviews. HELP?! I have no idea where how to get a feel of the whole situation. Anyone had this question or know what I'm talking about?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. It would be nice to see how the AD proceedings go, and whether I'd measure up to Emirates standards.

I'll probably go and hand in my resume and see how it goes.

Hey to all of you who also got the GC!

I am joining in November, and I know many of you join in September already... I thought, wouldn't it be wonderful if you could post your experiences after joining? Like how was the pick up at the airport, how is accomodation, what's the aviation college like, tips and tricks, do's and dont's, what is training like etc... What I found out since I am here is, that most of the people come here and ask questions and tell people about their experiences in the joining process, but as soon as they flew to Dubai, we don't hear anything more from them, and I am seriously dieying for news... soooo curious! Maybe it's just because people are so crazy busy during training? I would be so glad to hear from you!!! :ok:

In my opinion, it's a good sign :) (but just be patient, you will have to be soooo much more patient in the future with the portal, believe me! Keep us updated!

Tips:

1. Bring as much money as you can afford to. It can be quite difficult to live off the early salary especially if you like to socialise/go out to dinners etc... so extra money can help you with the initial expenses in getting set up

2. If you are not a patient person, practice now! There can be times when you are doing a lot of waiting around or things take a longer time to organise than you might be used to at home. It's a learning experience for sure. For example, setting up my banking took a good few weeks instead of a few days as at home.

3. Try to listen as much as you can in class and don't be afraid to ask questions if you do not understand. This is especially important if English is not you first language. Some people were required to repeat and a couple of those only because they never asked to have some things explained to them, they just assumed they knew what was wanted but they didn't.

4. Have a balance between fun and training. Remember, you can party after training. If you do wanna party (and you will after the exams) try not to do it the night before a class, do it the night after you finish for the weekend so you have time to study and recover :P

5. When you pack your stuff, lay it out on the floor so you can see what yu are bringing. I doubled up on some stuff and left other things out. Start making a list a few weeks ahead and if you're not sure about clothes, try wearing them before you leave and see what you wear the most. Remember Dubai is a bit more conservative than what you may be used to. Girls do wear short dresses here but it can get the wrong kind of attention, by all means bring your summer dresses/skirts but also bring a few things for when you need to cover up (e.g. the mosque tour during training)

6. Bring black trousers as you will need them during the training. Also some black flat shoes for the girls/black shoes for the guys.

Anything else just ask

Hi Bellabella!

First of all im so sorry what happened to you with that guy!! What a terrible experiene  glad you were able to get out of it!

Now.. this is my advice: DO NOT LIE!!!!!!!!!!!! they WILL, believe me, find out and you will not get hired. I understand that before they give you the golden call they make a background check about everyone, and the problem will not be that you worked for Qatar, it will be that you LIED in your resume, etc.
So no no no :=
What I would do is: attend the OD and when you give them your CV explain very briefly (just like you did here) that you worked for Qatar but had this awfull experience and had to leave, etc.
The recruiters are very nice people so I am sure they will understand, and let's hope that the "not hiring ex Qatar crew" is not true...

Best of luck :ok:

Seja, no problem! :)

About the arrival part...

I got to the airport (I was only one joining on my flight)

I felt a bit lost, but just followed the signs to arrivals/baggage area like the letter said. (Make sure to print out all the things they tell you)

Once I took the elevator down stairs, just before the immigration the ladies were waiting next to the LCD screens like the email said. They asked me to wait as there were more new joiners arriving soon. We waited maybe 15mins, I just chatted to the other people there.

Next they took us through immigration then to get our bags. Once we had our stuff we followed the lady to the Marhaba Lounge. There, she gave us some papers to fill and collected our photos, passports etc to take them to do the visa. (yes they take your passport for about 4 weeks, once the visa is in you get it back). I reccommend you take some colour copies for yourself as well, if you are worried about not having it with you.

Then there was LOTS of waiting. I had a book with me so it was ok. There were maybe 20-30 new joiners in that room after an hour or so. We were waiting for them to confirm all the arrangments and to get the transport ready. It depended on which area/building you are going to. So you went in groups depending on the building. My flight landed at around 5:30am; we did not leave the airport until approximately 9am. There was myself and 2 other girls in the van.

They drop you at the building, then you go in and the security guards make you sign in some papers and they give you your keys. That was it. I made my way up to my apartment. my flatmate was away, so it was just me. In the room you have all the welcoming stuff everyone else has talked about. Then it's up to you what to do. I decided to unpack instead of sleeping as it was now fully sunlight. It's supposed to help the jetlag to get to local time asap.

Then I went exploring around to find a shop, metro, fast food places etc. In the packet of papers they give you it has your schedule, pickup time for bus, phone number for your room etc. The phone should dial international, but I would recommend texting the number to your family so they can call you on your land line so you don't have to pay at first, as I said first few months you are a bit poor money wise!!!

Hope this helps!

Hi Mari,

Its been ages, took a hiatus from pursuing my CC dream as I've been dealing with personal issues.. Anyhoo, any news as to when EK will hire Filipinos again? They haven't been posting any OD/AD dates for my country and the appointed agency is all mum about it.. My friends and I thought of attending ODs in other countries, but are somewhat hesitant we might automatically be rejected due to our nationality..

Any news/update would be extremely helpful.

Thanks again,

Carmela.

Heyyyy!!! thank you veryyyy muuuuchhhh for all this useful info you give us!!

You are amazing!! I do appreciate all this and thanks again for taking time writing this posts...!!

If you dont have any problem I would like to ask you some questions for example:

1. what about training and exams during training? how many exams do you have? is it one per week or one per topic for example??

2. regarding stuff to pack before leaving to Dubai, how many kg can you take with you? I think we need summer and winter clothes....you never now where are you flying....

3. About Blackberry and skype: I heard that skype is blocked in Dubai as well as blackberry service...is that true? if not, do you use these services??

Thanks again thatredhatgirl, I´m in the process of presenting my medicals an receiving my final approval, so all this kind of posts are very important to me as this make us a big idea of how our lifes would be there in Dubai...!!:ok::ok:

ThatRedHatGirl
30th Aug 2010, 20:54
Hi Pipita,

1. Exams depends on which fleet you are for, also the subject you are studying. Sometimes we had only one exam in a week, other times 2 or 3. You also do practical exercises which while not exams are still marked and count towards your passing or not.

There are also written homework in a book, the book states what days these must be done and also your trainers will tell you each day what you need to do for the next day. Along with this, you also complete some online learning which there is time allocated for during training college.

2. I believe the luggage allowance is 50kg, but check on the paper work they give you in case it changes. You could bring more but be prepared to pay the extra charges. Some people I know brought extra and didn't get charged; others did. It all depends on the airport and who is checking you in on the day. I think I was 5kg over but they said it was ok. HOWEVER, I also had the money with me in case I did have to pay. If you have a lot of stuff, you could always use a baggage shipping service to have it sent later. It's usually cheaper than excess baggage fees. My advice- anything you "maybe" want, pack separately and have it sent later if youmiss it. Sure there's stuff I wish I brought but I don't NEEEEEED it. I'll bring it back with me when I go home on leave. Mostly summer clothes is fine but yes, bring clothes suitable for winter, i.e. at least one good coat and some boots in case you go to Moscow :) Also the malls are always cold so some cardigans/jackets would be good too.

3. You cannot download Skype, so get it before you leave. Some people have trouble topping up credit; you need to do this on layovers. Some people use various methods around the block. Computer-to-computer is fine, I have had no problem. They are really only blocking computer to landline/mobile. I'm not sure about BB but Etisalat are putting in alternative packages with mobile internet etc, it's really the BB messaging that the govt is worried about. There may be a solution to the block soon, if you have a BB you can always check it out once you're here then decide what to do. Also, there are other Skype-like services you can use. You know the ones.

Question; do you know if it's considered good or bad in regards to not being asked to take the psychological test after the final interview. I thought I did great but was not asked to take a psychological test afterwards like some of the others. I'm a little worried now.

Hi! One question: About the food..like lunch, etc.. do they give it to us while training? Or do we have to pay for it?

Thankx!

ThatRedHatGirl
31st Aug 2010, 02:39
Hi, during training college you can use the cafeteria to buy food or you can do what some people do and bring it from home. Quite a few cooked up a big batch of food over the weekend then brought it with them. If you are nice to the staff they will usually give you a plate and heat it up, otherwise there's kitchenettes on some of the floors with coffee machine (1/2hs each) and a microwave and water dispenser (free)

To buy lunch: sandwiches 10-2dhs depending on the type
Plate of pasta cooked to order 20dhs
Can of Coke etc 2dhs
You can also buy other things and there's a Costa coffee outlet in the cafeteria too, tends to be more expensive but definitely worth it on some days!

Some people also miss that there is a small kiosk/shop in the lobby where you can buy snack items like cup noodles, nuts, biscuits, ice creams, bigger range of drinks etc. (Lke a mini 7 eleven) but it's run by someone else, not EK I think.

Also once or twice they give you lunch as part of the day you are doing

Hi thank you sooo much for your help and information! :)

I'd also like to ask you about what sort of electrical adapters do we need to bring with us? I have read that in Dubai they have British, European and Indian plugs.... but which one is it or all 3 fine?

In regards to money like you said....is cash the best option or credit card?

Thanks in advance, you are really helping us newbies out!!! :ok:

ThatRedHatGirl
31st Aug 2010, 04:32
Most of the plugs I've seen are the UK 3 pin type, though I think it could vary if you're in an older building. Don't worry, adaptors are generally available here and they tend to be the "visitor" type that converts 'anything' into the 3-pin UK or Europe type.

Google Image Result for http://www.trans-way.net/images/Others/WP-7.jpg (http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.trans-way.net/images/Others/WP-7.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.trans-way.net/products/novelty%25202.htm&h=347&w=500&sz=24&tbnid=OKo8X25-IPJLeM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Duk%2Bpower%2Boutlet&zoom=1&hl=en&usg=__BmNN_KJRx_HOlvaKs6XF9aNal5w=&sa=X&ei=WoV8TOm5KdGZOOTskIIE&sqi=2&ved=0CC4Q9QEwAw)

I brought two from home with me and bought the rest here. Cost depends on the model/quality, I say go for the best you can afford. Also check if you need a converter for your stuff; it depends where your products are manufactured. The labels on a product should give the voltage, if it gives a range and it includes the voltage for Dubai you won't need a converter. (Note a lot of US stuff tends to need converters, and also hair straighteners)

Also if you're bringing a laptop and want to use it right away, think about bringing a surge protector adaptor/plug.

Money??? = Entirely up to you & your circumstances. If bringing cards, jsut let your bank know you're taking it so they don't cut it off for 'suspicious activity', and check it will work here. Some cards with chips can only be used with a PIN, so best to get a new one if you forgot it :)

purelife
31st Aug 2010, 04:37
wow AmandaUC read my mind! jajaja I was going to ask that! :)

Im sorry redhatgirl...but can you please tell me what is a surge protector adaptor?? Is it like the thing for when electricity goes off that the computer etc, won't get damaged?

Thanks a lot!!!!

ThatRedHatGirl
31st Aug 2010, 04:41
Yes, that's it. I was reading on google that the power supply in Dubai while reliable can have surges/spikes which can damahe computer equipment. Some surge protectors are inbuilt into adaptors/power board outlets, others you can buy as a laptop cord to replace the one that came with your computer. Again, the quality depends on how much you spend but around $20 can get you a fairly decent one.

Thank you for your information :ok:

How about mobile phones- I have an Iphone on a Vodafone contract here in Australia, is Vodafone over in Dubai too or is it better to get a pre-paid local sim card once I arrive there?

Or what did you do?

Thanks again!!! :)

ThatRedHatGirl
31st Aug 2010, 05:00
I had one with Vodafone too. You can use it here but the roaming charges add up REALLY fast!! Same with using internet, email etc. Be aware that you pay to receive calls also. I keep mine off unless I'm in Oz/NZ as those calls are included in my monthly cap. Yes, I'm stil paying the fee. Unless you can pay out of your contract you'll just have to keep paying it every month.

Phones here are cheap and all unlocked. Sim cards are about $25 or in some cases come with the phone. I just use Etisalat pre-paid, you need a copy of your passport and a copy of the temp visa they email you (one set for phone, one for sim card) I got mine first day here. Easy and plenty of places to buy it.

AmandaUC

Ok that's good to know! Thanks now I'll know what to do...sort of haha :)
I guess once you're in your apartment and have the first 10 days off then I could go to a shopping centre and arrange/buy one :)

By the way in the first 10 days of being there, before starting training...is that actually 10 days off for yourself to go explore or is this the time that more medicals will be done etc?

ThatRedHatGirl
31st Aug 2010, 05:16
I had 3 days, it's usually anywhere between 1-3 days. I think the 10 days includes the induction week (as in, medicals, HR talks etc)

AmandaUC
31st Aug 2010, 05:24
Haha so no big shopping trips at the beggining then! :O Also good to know!

This is a girly question but may help out some others too... I have blonde hair which I colour myself, can you buy almost any type/brand of DIY hair colours at the shops too? Or are there hairdressers in our apartment blocks to get it done there? :)

Also with the welcome pack I was just reading about on your post before... what does that usually include?

Sorry for so many questions but all your answers are extremely helpful!!! :ok::)

ThatRedHatGirl
31st Aug 2010, 05:31
I don't colour my hair so I don't know, BUT I see all the usual hair dye kits in the supermarket/Carrefour (e.g Loreal etc)

Also, plenty of crew get their hair done, it's almost a hobby! :P Lots do it on layovers as it's cheap in some places. Ask around; maybe your flatmate colors her hair too.

Welcome pack:

Exactly what they said on the list they gave you at FI... all the linens, sheets etc. Plus some pots, pans, basic cooking equipment. Then a basket with some stuff like: cereal, long life milk, bottled water, chocolate, crackers, etc to get you through the first couple of days til you can shop on your own. It did vary a little between people/apartments/areas but the basics are the same. Also, some washing powder tablets, toilet rolls, paper towel, dish liquid etc.

AmandaUC
31st Aug 2010, 05:38
Yay! That's a relief that I'll be able to find all those things there too :)

Ahhh yes, I have that list (didn't realise that was the welcome pack haha) oh and that's nice to hear that they provide/give you a few snacks etc to settle in at first :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer all these questions... I can't think of any "important" ones now (you've pretty much answered all my main questions which I wasn't sure of) so thank you once again!

Yeah that would be a great idea! :ok: Let's hope they read your post and pick up the hint hehehe :)

I just thought of one more question... if I were taking cash with me, should I be taking Dirhams (since that's what we'll get paid in I assume) or US dollars?

ThatRedHatGirl
31st Aug 2010, 08:01
If you're in Oz, change the mney in the UAE, as they generally don't charge a fee like they do back home. Just change some money to get you through the first few days.

If you're in the US, the dirham is tied to the US dollar at 3.6dhs to $1USD so really your only concern is if there are any fees or not to change it where you are.

I was wondering, do you have to buy spesific make-up for EK to wear when on duty?Like we all have to wear the same red lipstick ect.I heard somewhere they prefer you use clinque, is that true? And is there discount on certain make-up items for EK crew with your FACE card? because that can get very expensive.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us!

CuteAfrican
31st Aug 2010, 11:14
Hey tik.

That's a really hard question to ask, and an even harder position to be in. I guess it's great that you have one solid option, and another *potential* one.

What you can do is see how the AD goes, especially if you want to work with the airline. If money rocks your boat, then you can look at the different salary/benefits options. If it's company culture and growth, then I guess you can research that too.

Just follow your heart. Try being rational or logical about it, while focusing on where your passions lie. And by rational/logical I mean look at the pros and cons, the benefits, long-term and short-term challenges the companies are facing etc.

Don't know if that helped. That being said, it would still be great to see you on the 12th.

:)

Hi Yelly,

There is no specific brand required, however in the grooming studio they have Clarins products. You can use the ones they have for the image day, or bring your own. They only specify the items to be worn.

Minimum makeup:

Foundation
Powder
Blush
Eye-shadow
Eyeliner
Mascara
Lip Pencil & Lipstick

However a few of the trainers have said if you have eye liner you don't need eyeshadow & vice versa. Eye liner looks great (especially on Arabic girls) but not everyone finds it comfortable to wear (it tends to get in my eyes and make them water so I go without, but I wear eyeshadow)

Neutral colours are best (anything with a coffee/chocolate name!) No pinks, greens, blues or 'smoky eyes'

Lipstick can be any brand you like but they want it to bed RED. However, red on ME may be different on YOU. It depends on your skin tone. So, I wouldn't go too crazy on buying new makeup, take what you have and buy a few cheapish basics to get you through training, unless you already know your brand and then can stock up if you can't get it here. (Most major brands are available here, however the colours, depends on where you are from) You could always get your mum/sister to send more to you if you can't buy it here. I buy my makeup when I get Australia/NZ flights.

No idea about discounts for FACE card but most duty free outlets you get some sort of discount (5-20% depending on airport) Bangkok is supposed to be very good for cosmetics:)

Thanks for the reply, they give you a lot more freedom than expected!I would have thought it must be a spesific colour and brand.

How much money would you say would be enough to take along (Dhms), if you want to live relatively comfortable, go out once a week and eat healty(I heard fresh produce is very expensive, I'm from SA so here its very very cheap). I know this is very subjective, but I'm planing on taking about 2000 dhm extra. So after your previous post I'm not sure if thats enough!

Hi there, :O

I am sorry if I am going over old ground here, so many posts to go through and hope you don't mind me asking a few questions:-

I lived in Qatar for 6 years and thought about joining into the Cabin Crew lifestyle while I was there, however time passed and I ended back in the UK. I miss the Middle East and feel I am in the right frame of mind to make a go of this.

Am I too old at the grand age of 31?
Do Emirates tend to look for younger crew?
and also another issue, I have a wrist tattoo which can easily be covered up by a watch... would this go against me?

I have been advised there is a possible OD in Newcastle in November and would like to be uber prepared for this.

I am flying out to Dubai on 9th Sept for a holiday and to visit my folks that live there, would it be worth visiting the Emirates offices whilst I am out there? :(

I was just thinking, so the topic about the actual recruitment stays the main focus, maybe the moderators can move these last posts to a 'Moving to Dubai' thread??

It's fine where it is, thanks. It's a lot more relevant to the main focus than much of what I regularly remove.

Can someone please pm on me how to post a photo along with my post? Seems my last attempt wasn't successful.

You need to host the photograph on a publicly accessible site, such as Photobucket, flickr, etc.

There's a thread in the Computers & Internet forum right now that has this step-by-step guide:

1. Take picture
2. Drop onto PC
3. Edit/crop picture
4. Upload to Flickr/Photobucket, and copy link
5. Write post on PPRuNe
6. Insert image link into PPRuNe post
7. Pour beer and laugh at responses

So I’ve been thinking - it’s time to put faces to names. In the photo below, Left to Right we have njeshwings, yours truly (kenyan85) and hopefulke, EK’s present, and future(s). This was on the evening of njesh’s completion of most of her medicals – the vaccinations, xrays and pap smear. We look like one big family don’t we hehe. Hopefulke and I will be trying out our luck next April, while njeshwings will be heading to DXB on the 4th of October. Wish her luck as she starts on he brave new journey!

Hey!

I was at an Open Day in Paris (21st august), we were 28 (9 boys) for the Final Interview (25th) ! I guess we won't be that much to get the Golden Call... :ouch:

I read in previous pages that some people can read his status on Emirates career website, but did we need to get registred for the OD?

I have an account but I wasn't registred for this OD, so at this moment I got nothing.

thanks for the infos ;)

Attended it yesterday in Dubai, I'd say there were 40-45 people? Made it through the first few knockouts until there were 7 left before I got booted out with another girl. 5 were left for the FI as far as I know.

Does anybody know approx. how long final approval takes after medicals?

Mari
1st Sep 2010, 12:49
Yellybaby, nobody knows how long YOUR approval takes. Read back (10-20 pages)) if you want to know how it went for others... Take a paper and write down 10 examples. Then calculate and you get the average time.

Thibotus, do you have an account? I think they will use that, don't worry. (My friend registered for Budapest OD this year. Failed. She went to Bratislava 6 months later, registered again, made it to the final. They used her previous account for the status changes... She is doing her medicals now.)

One thing is sure: they find a way to contact you if they want! Prepare your questions now and write them down on a paper. Ask them if they call!!! (They tend to be very quick during the Golden Call!)

Mari
1st Sep 2010, 12:55
Viper5555,

yes, Emirates tends to look for young crew. Only around 10% of the new hires are over 30. The upper age limit is 34.

Yes, your tattoo is a problem. Do not mention it, cover it all times. (If it gets discovered, you will be sent home.) I would have it removed if I were you.

Try Etihad as well: somehow they seem to prefer a bit more the mature applicants. (Correction: they used to prefer. They just started hiring again... There was an AD in London a couple days ago. I'm sure there will be more events.) Try to attend the open days/assessment days with outstanding grooming!!! (For Etihad: ONLY skirt.)

I remember at the end of the conract there was a template of how it should look? And I think it should be on the company letterhead. Not to sure, I'm sure you will find it on the candidate portal.

Is it a requirement to be handwritten? Check it. You need to learn to look up the correct information and not to rely on forums.

I´m waiting for my final approval after my medicals so I dont have the resignation part available in my portal yet.. That´s the reason why I can´t know how it looks like or if I can find some additional info. in that part different from what my contract says.

I didnt receive my final approval but I´ll resign from my current job and I want to make sure that with that template printed and signed it´s ok. :ok:

Thank you again for your reply!!

About your question regarding final approval...I submitted all my medical on August 20th and I still dont have any news...I think that depends on the DOJ you have, but there are cases where final approval took 4 weeks....

Good luck to everyone attending to od and ad´s and for those waiting for gc and final approvals...!!!!:O:O

Hey Pipita old friend, long time no "hear" hehe... My experience: I've been waiting 5 weeks (due to my 3 months sign off period they probably weren't in a hurry to contact me)... anyway, I sent a query after 5 weeks, no response, then I sent an e-mail and finally got a reply, they told me that some things were not ok and had to be redone / rewritten etc... (As your DOJ is same as mine, I think they are also not in a hurry with a reply to you). Contact them after a couple of weeks if you don't have any response then.. Concerning confirmation of resignation letter: It has to be on the company's letterhead, stamped and signed (and then it is an official document, no matter if handwritten or printed). My personal view is: the template is computer written and nothing about handwritten is mentioned (plus it's a bit more state-of-the-art to print it), so my vote goes for the printed version (shall I send you template, my dear?)

Yellybaby, reading back in the thread as Mari advised will answer almost every question you have.
Give it a try, it's worth it! See it from this point of view: as you also are a member for quite a while now, you know that a couple of experienced people (present cabin crew) take their time regularly and answer us wannabe's questions. I really admire this effort and I think your reaction ("I am not interested in reading back") is not the attitude we should have in this forum? Needless to say that it is very tiring to answer the same questions every day.... I hope you can see my point! Generally (my experience plus what I read): I can say: waiting periods are between one day and many, many weeks (or months). So many factors, it would be irresponsible to mention a time frame. :)

Now sorry for talking to much, a nice evening to all of you! ;)

I did not intent to be disrespectful, but this is a forum, meaning a platform where we can discuss various topics, this is not a search engine, otherwise I could simply enter phrases into Google and read the answers on my own. My point being the objective here is interaction, not research.

I agree Mari has taken lots of her time, out of a very busy schedule to share her experience and knowledge with us wannabe’s. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very grateful for every piece of information. But I feel it necessary to add that some of her responses are condescending, borderline rude. So I don’t care how much experience you have or how much time you have taken to answer questions, or even how many times you have answered the same question, it’s simply no excuse to say what you want.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and if in your opinion a question is unnecessary or stupid, simply refrain from answering. It's as simple as that. Like your mother probably said to you when you were little, if don't have anything nice (in this case also constructive) to say, rather say nothing at all. There's no rule stating you are only entitled to a certain amount of questions per topic is there? And if you feel something has been discussed to much and its old news to you, move on to another forum then.

I apologise to those not interested in this discussion but I just wanted to tell my side.

ThatRedHatGirl

Yes Yelly, you can have your opinion but what you might not realise is that Mari is trying to help you.

During training you will be expected to find information in your manuals, yes, you will have to 'search' for it and not everything will be fed to you like in primary school.

Pprune actually is also a search engine as well as a forum, that is why it has a "SEARCH" button at the top.

We are happy to answer questions but all we ask is that you have a look for yourself first, if you cannot find the answer then sure, we'll tell you. So far most of the questions I have answered have not already (or recently) been answered, some of the things are answers that may have changed since Mari did her training. Yes a forum is about interaction but it's also about learning and you can't do that without some effort on each side.

YELLYBABY
1st Sep 2010, 19:27
The problem here is the condescending nature thereof, just because I'm not using the search function does not mean I don't know how to.(I'm a political analysist and I'm doing my post grad in Law). Research is nothing new to me.

The point I'm trying to make is you can help someone in a nice way. You for example answered all our questions (they were asked before) in such a nice and polite manner.I think the best would be to agree to disagree.:}

Yellybaby, when you have finished reading the thread - and any of the previous incarnations of this thread that you care to find - then you can ask any unanswered questions that you may have.

People do not take kindly to the bone-idle who expect everyone else to spend their time and effort answering questions that have been asked and answered innumerable times in the past.

No-one here who has the knowledge that you wish to acquire is in any way bound to pass it on to you, and when (if) they do, accept it gratefully and gracefully. A lesson, perhaps, that you would do well to learn.

Yellybaby,

you waited 16 weeks for your Golden Call. (It was you who sent pictures 5 times, right?) It seems to me that "general rules" (are there any?) didn't apply to you.

As a "general rule" my friend submitted all the documents, she did everything great, she was lucky, EK needs people, she got the Call after 8 days. (All photos were accepted.) All of her fellow applicants are still waiting but they all had to send some papers and pictures. It was an extremely big number of people (21) who made it to the Final in Bratislava, half of them will get a rejection letter. Some have to wait 2 weeks, some have to wait 8 weeks. Waiting is horrible but what to do?! What could you tell them??? You waited 16 weeks. My friend waited 8 days. What would be your answer to a question how much time XY has to wait?

You started to read (or just write?) in July. Still, you asked every time "how much time does it take to...?" when many people posted the exact dates about their own recruitment process during the summer. Why did they do that?! Did someone ask them to post short and organized posts with the dates?! They just wanted to provide facts to people who are waiting and summarize the info in 1 post for YOU. Not one ppruners did that but many, following the others as they realized that the "waiting game" is so painful. You read some of them and you have a general idea about the timings: very easy. Would you believe one person?! (I wouldn't!!!) If you had read this forum for 2 months, you should have had a general idea what to expect. As I understand you were too busy to read.

One of the girls in the Qatar topic also asked how long she has to wait so she wouldn't check her e-mails million times a day. Really?! Well, I can tell you: I wouldn't move from my computer or from my iphone for sure! I would read pprune and think: "OK, she got the news in 5 days so maybe tomorrow... OK, she got the mail after 2 weeks, so I still have a chance." Surely, I would be anxious all the time and keep checking my account! Do I really care when the others received the answer I'm waiting for?! I want my answer and I want it from Emirates!

Anyways, you got your date of joining. If your medicals are fine (are they?), you are fine. What you wanted to hear: There is nothing to worry about, it's just a formality, you get your approval sooner or later.

By the way, my post was not rude, just short and straight to the point. (It wasn't really addressed to you but to other ppruners as well.) I know that I have my own style but I'm just so tired to put on my "mask" at work (sweet, nice, polite, patiant ALL TIMES! dealing with very difficult situations and people every flight) that I want to be myself when I'm not at work. I really deserve forgiveness. (I'm not kidding: I'm dead tired, I fly non-stop, my salary was never better... no time and energy to spend, though...)

You didn't need encouragement and you should have had all the info you needed as you've been on pprune since July. Why should I tip-toe around? I knew that someone would write down the answer (as you wanted to read it) that the approval could take a couple of days or a couple of weeks. Not a very factful information but that's what you wanted to read. You got it. Well, I cannot wait to see RedHat's style after 400 posts and 3 years.

I'm sorry that you don't like your current job or the major you chose. (Political analyst? Post grad in Law?!) Working for Emirates will be a brand new and exciting experience for you and quite challenging, I guess. I'm sure you will stay with us for 1 or 2 years to experience something different and travel the World. You might even like this job, actually... Please, let us know in 6 months how it goes.

Oh, there was a girl above who really needed the contact details of HR/recruitment. Did you send it to her in a private message? (It would have been very nice and supportive.)

I always have to remind myself that it's a wannabe thread and I shouldn't actually post anything. Sorry about that... I could gossip about the lost off days and the little bonus in the EK topic but who needs all the complaints?! I'm honestly happy that I have a job, good salary, career opportunities and I love living in Dubai. Oh, oh, I have new gossips for new-joiners!!! (Fresh from board!) One of my new crew told me that 2 of her batch mates were let go during the probation! (It wasn't like that in the "old days".) One had 2 absent days: fair enough. One had a sick day! I was suspicious, so I asked what happened. Well, she called sick for her very first supy flight... They are really strict nowadays, so try to do your best. Keep in mind: They need people who can fly 120 hours a month and willing to do 7 horrible night turnarounds a month! And don't put on weight. I just wanted to add some value to this post...

Good luck with the joining process!

I have a question, I had my FI two weeks ago but I hadn´t with me the letter of employment nor my full length photo. I send them as they asked to the e mail address they gave me that day. How can I make sure they got them? I already send an e-mail asking but got no response. Anyone knows about this? Thank your very much for your help.

Now is as good a time as any...

I agree with yellybaby! And I'm glad someone said it. I was taken aback by some of Mari's harsher posts... Some people seem to LOVE it when they're rude? So I guess it's an individual thing.

I think the great thing about the forums is that you can go through the 'omg what does this mean??' process with people you end up starting with, which forms relationships and builds excitement.

I do search back through the forums but I also like asking the girls on my start date because we have the same recruitment officer so there's prob going to be similar results. I can understand that this would be frustrating to watch over and over again... I dont personally get why you do it?

I agree, if someone asks a silly question leave it up to someone who is still in the 'omg emirates' stage to reply. Skim over to a question only you can answer and maybe you'll be less grumpy?

I'm a regular reader yet infrequent poster. Just want to send a shout-out to Mari. You do a great job, and please keep it up. I hope the company have recognised the work you do and if they haven't... someone should let them know.

I'm flying with EK for almost 2 years now. I love my job. I went to the interview armed with a lot of useful information that I learned from this forum, especially from Mari, even 2 years ago.

Anyway, I felt the need to post now just to wish BigAl and Yellybaby good look with their future career with Emirates. If you find mari "rude" and "condescending", then you will need all the luck you can find when you start flying as a grade 2 in economy.

Mari says it like it is, and I'm sure she is sick of repeating herself when people keep asking the same questions over and over, simply because they are too lazy to use the "search" button.

Mari, much love and keep up the good work :ok:

Yeah look I dont want to be ungrateful for all the useful information on this forum. It's VERY nice of someone to sit on a computer and answer wannabe questions instead of doing 1000 more exciting things! So thanks, really!!!

But I wanted to stick up for yellybaby cos I think she has raised a valid point.

Ideally, people should feel free to ask any question on a forum. Otherwise why not just replace the forum with an info sheet with all the typical questions answered?

The point is we're all here to help each other out.

I agree with YellyBaby and Al. Mari, I am not saying this to be mean to you, just to make you aware (if you are not already) that some of your comments come across as condescending and mean. If you have nothing constructive to add, then why waste the time and energy in writing a response? Again, I do not say this to criticize you, but I feel bad for those who may have felt belittled by your comments. Maybe because you are not a native English speaker you do not realize the negative tone that may come across in some of your comments?

Also, this is my first post, but I have been reading this forum off and on for some time now. I just read it out of curiosity to see what's going on with Emirates, etc. I flew as crew for Emirates in 2008. It was in general a good experience, but not worth permanently giving up the life I had left at home; so I resigned after 7 months with the company. Overall, I think how much you enjoy working for Emirates is based on how good the life/lifestyle you're leaving is...does that make sense? Sorry, for going off on a tangent, but it was just something on my mind.

If i am not completely Wrong this is not the I hate/love Mari Thread. If

So we don´t we all put our differences aside.

I left this forum for 2 weeks to finish my medicals and it´s already a

I believe this difference of way of thinking or replying people began
with Mari and Yelly, so why is it that i have passed 3 different posts
with people arguing about Mari´s manners.

"Let he who is without Sin cast the first Stone"

Many of you didn´t have the courage to tell her and now that someone did
you all come out like a pack of hyenas on a wounded animal.

You may all have not liked or disliked her way of helping. But she trully
help us all. Even if some may find her sometimes rude, she STILL HELPED
YOU THROUGH YOUR NEEDS WHEN NOBODY TOOK THEIR TIME TO DO SO. In any case i
would thanks her anyway and wait for someone else to reply me or try to
find it on me on. Or maybe ask a friend like I did with Pipita and she did
the same too.

This is not a way of taking sides on anyone. I Respect Yelly so much for
telling her the way she felt. Very proud of you girl!

And i also thanks Mari for her infinite wisdom.

The rest of you... Drop this matter and move on with what this Thread is

Hey all,

I've just spent the last few hours 'catching up' as I hadn't visited the forum in a while and am I shocked to see whats going on ..

Personally I'll agree with biotech...c'mon people just be grateful to everyone (including Mari) who have spent their time sitting in front of their computers to answer questions, post their experiences and provide congratulations and encouragement!!! Alot of these which most people close to us us probably failed to do. Yet, here we are, most of us strangers, from different countries, cultures and walks of life helping each other out.

I believe we are all here on this forum for a reason...so can we just focus on the bigger picture and not take things personally??? please
We're all adults here, from all parts of the world. For some of us English IS our native language, for others it is NOT and for this reason the tone of certain posts could be ambiguous...(trust me I know as I deal with all kinds of people every day of my life, some kind, some rude, some demanding and some who think that since they are the customers they have the right to do or say whatever they want no matter how annoying or ridiculous it may sound!!!)

Besides none of knows what another member of the forum may be going through when he/she writes something down because more often than not, we are sitting in the comfort of our own homes or offices and only concerned about OURSELVES..(just placing my view here but I hope you get what I mean)

So, could we please end this Mari/Yellybaby 'escapade' here and move on please?

Yellybaby congratulations so far. I know it's stressful but here's hoping you get your feedback from EK soon.
Mari, thank you for taking your time to answer our questions and provide us with info, tips and encouragement. I think (and I know alot will agree) you're a very essential part of this forum and you have helped so many of us when we had no idea who to turn to, so thank you.

*Sorry if I upset anyone by saying what I did and sorry for any typos or grammatical errors. I've had a long crappy day with a very less-than-pleasant customer and it's way past midnight.

Take care everyone....

I did not intend for this to become a 'my team versus your team' situation. I simply wanted to say that out of personal experience, its not what you say but how you say it.Putting a little emotional intelligence to the test will get you very far-promise.

Funny you should mention it, thats exactly what I said to a friend yesterday, totally agree! If you have a great life, why leave it? I have heard horror stories of how some girls live and their day to day lives, to them having your own bedroom is awesome.

I'm doing this for other reasons than most, things are not too great in SA at the moment. I love my friends, family, boyfriend and job.But still I need money to complete my degree, and compared to a study loan that will take me YEARS to repay, and a one bedroom apartment in down town Cape Town costing half my salary- this is living a dream.

Some gossip-
Apparently EK will only be recruiting A380 cabin crew in Dec.My friend just finished her A380 training. I'm only repeating what she said. Thought I would add it for those who are joining soon.

I am one of those people who decided not to post anything on the "Search" issue. Like everyone else, I wante peace on this forum sooner.

However, if you choose to put horror and Philippines in the same sentence, you could have exercised a bit more of cultural sensitivity. You can say that you have put a qualifier --"some", but at the end of the day it is horror=Philippines that gets stuck in people's heads. And since we are on the subject of qualifiers, not saying Philippines but "in some developing countries" would have been more appropriate.

I was not personally offended, but my intelligence certainly did take a hit.:)
I have read your posts on the "search" issue and your main line was to be sensitive on how your posts come across, that's basically were the offense comes from for me now.

Oh well, congratulations on your application process, can't say I can't wait 'till you're flying up there!:ok:

I'm sincerely sorry if I offended anyone with that comment, but I was just so shocked when I heard how some teaching assistants are being treated in Qatar, and that its still better than at home,so I did not mean to indulge in any stereotype, thats the story I heard and I'm merely repeating it. I don't really like refering to developing countries, thats again a Western sterotype. So I would rather call it by the name, as politely as possible.

ps I did feel it appropriate to remove that piece of info, as I can convey my message without it.Thank for giving your point of view the way you did!

Hi all,
I'm currently unemployed( and they know it), which means I can join ASAP and I'm really starting to wonder why I got a DOJ for Dec.27. that's 4 months away.some people got called after me and got a DOJ for the beginning of Nov., a difference of two months.that's weird. Anyone with an idea what's going on?

purelife
2nd Sep 2010, 16:44
hello NAVELO!

Well im not sure why, but you can always ask them if you can join before? IM SURE they will be happy about this... tell them you want your DOJ sooner. It won't be a problem, and im sure it's not that there is something "wrong" with you (YOU GOT IN!!!! :D)

no need to worry.

Mari
2nd Sep 2010, 16:45
Courses must be full.

But:
write to your coordinator. Keep trying!!! Tell them that you would like to join earlier. There are always, always people who drop out from a group: simply change their minds or fail the medicals or get a better job offer or get pregnant or want to delay the joining due to personal reasons etc. It happens.

Let them know that you are more than happy to start any time they want, even in a short notice! You just need some luck!

NAVELO
2nd Sep 2010, 18:48
Thank you purelife and Mari !
You are saying to write to my coordinator. But how do I know who that is? Is it the person that called me? Is it the person that recruited me or somebody else? and one more thing- do I send an email to the email address that was given to us during the OD and FI to send more papers and/or pictures?

thank you in advance for taking the time to respond !

I'm reading this topic for a while, and it's so exciting to follow everybody's evolution. I'm also wannabe, waiting for GC, been to Belgrade 31st of July, 4 weeks since my FI, status still Applied, so hope is in the air, at least for a change in my status :)

NAVELO
I got an idea why you could have DOJ so late, probably they don't like to put too many people from the same nationality in one group, they are trying to divide, and as we were so many for FI in Belgrade and I think 65 of 72 were Serbians, and I presume you are Serbian to, could be the reason.

A tip: some days ago I really thought that even if I'm lucky I won't get there before January, witch still is a possibility, and I will have to quit my job in the end of September, so I decided to go for 2-3 months to a French speaking country, cause I know some french, but it needs improvement, so I would accept anything just to use the language, so I can add it to my spoken languages, witch makes you a better candidate when bidding for certain routes - I presume :).
You could think of some similar opportunity to use those 4 months for, go to a cocktail mixer academy, volunteer for old people care(train your stomach) or maybe you have a 3rd, 4th, 5th language to improve, find something suitable for the job and do it, fill your time usefully.

May you all be lucky in getting whatever you are waiting for! ;)

Hi Navelo,

Are you done with your medicals? If you are, then you have access to your trainer? If you do... ask her/him.

If not, SUBMIT A QUERY on the portal...this has been very good for me, they answer fast. And well...they are HR. Im sure they can help you. :D

Hi Keke,

You are giving Navelo some great advice. ;) But just to let you know, if you say you can speak a language, you have to be 100% fluent in it, this because our recruiters told us, that they COULD put only 1 person who speaks a certain language in a flight and that person has to be able to speak, understand etc for whatever happens.
Do you know what I mean? I don't know if I said it weird, but what im trying to say is that it's great you are going to learn french...just be sure if you want to put that as another language, because they will expect perfect french from you, GOOD LUCK!!!!!! :ok:

Hello everyone,

I already posted this question, but no one answered, could you please help me?

I had my FI two weeks ago but I hadn´t with me the letter of employment nor my full length photo. I send them as they asked to the e mail address they gave me that day. How can I make sure they got them? I already send an e-mail asking but got no response. Anyone knows about this? Thank your very much for your help.;)

Good luck to all of us waiting :) and Congrats to the ones who got their GC:D

Delighted to see Emirates are coming to Ireland in October. I will definitely be trying again, I've tried once before. I've a few ideas where I went wrong with them, I think realistically I wasn't actually ready for it, though I thought I was, but now I most definitely am!! so fingers crossed.

I don't post here often but always keep up to date reading it, It's great to see how everyone is getting on!!

Hi d4real,

Try resending it again...tell them in the email: if they could be so kind in replying if they recieved the documents.
They probably did recieve them, but remember they are also recieving documents of a loooooooooot of people...so i guess they don't answer emails to much.
That also happend to me before i got my GC, I had to send them a paper for my annual leave destination and I sent them the email and never got a reply... but when they called me, she already had the details about the annual leave destination.. so they DID GET IT...but never answered. So I wouldn't worry if I were you... did you register online with them? If so, there you can see your status...
Good luck :ok:

Hello purelife!

Yes, I know what you mean. :)
I don't want to encourage anybody to start learning a new language, just to be able to add it :) I have 11 years of french class in school behind me, but no speaking experience, so I only need 2-3 months to become fluent, as my vocabulary is wide.

d4real

I had my FI 30 days ago, also needed to send some pending photos, sent them after 4 days, got no answer for my mail, just be patient, and start to worry in the beginning of November, when the 6 weeks pass from your Pending documents sending date. Untill then be patient, explore your country! :)

As Keke just said in the post above, it would be prudent of guys who're waiting to pick up or polish a skill. For example, for the past two months, I've been helping a friend run a video shop, where we sell movies and series dvd's. I have learnt so far that I actually LOVE serving people! It puts a smile on my face when I see a happy customers. It's not all rosy though, as there are some days when you have very difficult customers and you have to smile and look concerned when they're hurling all sorts of abuse at you. My friend even told me since I came over to help out, their sales have gone up! That gives me some measure of gratification and I leave, at the end of the day, a very happy man. In other news hehe I'll be meeting up my sister and two friends over the weekend (all three have AD invites) where we'll be rehearsing the upcoming AD in Mombasa - I'll be training them on posture, what to say and how to say it, body language, et cetera. I hope that out of the three ladies I'll be training, at least two make it all the way to the finals, and hopefully to the GC. A busy weekend awaits me, and here's wishing all Wannabes a lovely one!

SPOKEN LANGUAGES

If you want to list a language you speak fluently but it's not your mother tongue, you have to be tested. It will happen during or after the training. (They forget it sometimes, you might have to ask the Cabin Crew Service Center after the training to do the exam.)

You must be able to read, write and talk. They seem to be very strict about the knowledge but they are not... A good intermediate level knowledge is fine.

We are always short of Arabic speakers and German speakers.

29th June 2010:
For the last few months we have had an increased interest from cabin crew in adding a new language to their crew qualifications. We have been actively looking for ways to facilitate language assessments for our crew and we are pleased to announce the availability of this new opportunity through the Cabin Crew Service Centre.
In most cases the language assessment will be done by a Purser or Part Time Trainer following a strict criteria based on:

Speaking (Public Announcements);
Reading and Writing (translation from English into the language assessed and vice versa);
Conversation;
Cultural Understanding. If you are interested in adding a new language, you can apply via email to the Cabin Crew Service Centre at xxxxx.com please include the language you would like to be assessed on, as well as any background on how you have acquired this language.

Your background must be based on either:

having lived within the country/region;
ties within your family; or
a qualification from a reputable language institution. To know more about the language assessment, you may download the language assessment form here: yyyyyyyy.

Note: At this stage we are facilitating assessments only for languages required operationally.
All request to assess for an existing language (i.e. one that is already defined on your profile) must come through your Cabin Crew Manager. The assessment will be arranged to ensure you are proficient according to the criteria outlined above.

Hi Anna123,

I don't know about other airlines, but Emirates medical forms says:

Unacceptable:
- Untreated or active Tuberculosis (TB). It is not possible to obtain a UAE visa if there is scarring seen on a chest X-RAY from previously treated or active TB.

Cases of latent (inactive) TB diagnosed by positive skin test, with normal chest x-ray, require 6 months of drug treatment as per WHO protocol. Emirates will accept once a medical certificate is provided certyfing that treatment has been completed.

Hope that helps. :ok:

Mari

Quite often: I think every second or 3rd month. Sometimes only for Arabic speakers, sometimes for everyone. Assessments are usually 1-2 weeks later after the cv drop-off.

Keep checking the homepage.

Dont feel bad about speaking out your point.
So an Mari she just telling us the facts, she just speaking out her point.

Take the useful info and leave behind the negativities.

So yeah, the waiting game is horrible i went thru it So i understand but just be patient thats all i can say.Keep yourself occupy rather than thinking about it 24/7, you can if you want to :8

For people who are going to an assessment or an open day good luck.
Preparation is the key, im sure you know where to look for!
All info is here, in this forum!! GO FOR IT because you never know! Dont get held back because of your look, clothes you have, educations, your current job or your age... but do your research THEN you will know what to do.

You need to work hard to be lucky, you would be lucky if you worked hard towards it:D

hi, everyone.
i am thinking of trying out for the open-day and kinda stuck with required photos. I looked through here but couldnt find any topics on business attire photos.
It says on the website that we need "full length and passport size photographs in business attire." but did everyone take photos in studios?
we dont have a good photo stidio where i live, so its a bit hard to get professional photos taken.

any advice on required photos???
or any advice for attending open-day is very much apriciated.

Thanks!!!

You DON'T need professional pictures taken..you can take them yourself with your camera... so don't stress about it.

The best of luck, if you want information about open days you can search: open days and Im sure a lot of information will appear, there are really great stories in this forum. :D

ThatRedHatGirl
5th Sep 2010, 07:22
No, you do not NEED professional photos.

Of course, there seems to be this myth that EMirates require them... sure, it is NICE to have, but not NECESSARY if you cannot have the means to do so.

I did not use a studio.... but- you should make some preparations, like, choose good lighting, make sure there is no furniture in the way. Take your photos against a PLAIN background/wall (it does not have to be white, in fact white can be bad as the photos come out strangely) but make sure it is one colour, not patterned, or wall paper, or bricks etc....

Plenty of info on this thread about photos, open days. Read back and you will see it.

Thanks you two.
I found a bit difficult to make background one color since the color of the floor will be shown behind my legs, and that makes two different colors on the back.
Just curious, do you think it would be also good if the photo is taken outside, some nice area?

about the open day advise, yes, there are so many good info in the forum, thankf to everyone. I guess ive been a bit concerned going on the open day for the first time.

thanks again!

Hello... Mmmm I do not recommend you do it on the outside, try making the best out of the picture with the one color wall... hmmm maybe you can stand in chair, and the person that takes the photo has to be very carefull.. This is what I did: For my OD, I just took the photo in a white wall on my house, the wodden floor was visibile, and it wasen't a problem AT ALL.. just try to do your best with what you have, I guess it's more importante how your: standing/dressed/smiling, etc than the floor..

The best of luck with your Open Day!!

If you are really worried about having a plain wall, youcan always hang a plain bed sheet (so long asyou do it right & it's not wrinkled) it can look fine, my friend who is a photographer started out this way before he could afford the professional background. BUT make sure it's not wrinkly :P

Hi gallery.

Don't lose hope. Not yet. I remember in 2006 they had an Open Day here in Nairobi. I was not prepared at all. I went in and was cut after the first group activity. I tried applying for two AD's after that and I was never given an invite.

Then I focused on completing my degree and I believe that I'm older and wiser, and I know what I want. So don't give up.

I've had this dream for four years, and I'm not giving up. ;)

I have the same question in the thread before, but no one was able to reply. Were you able to go? I'm looking for someone who did. I live near Dubai, that's where I might go for Open Day, but the process might be different. I just read that it takes two to three weeks before people are called for assessment.

That's why I'm looking for people who attended the CV drop off last Aug 28, to confirm this process. Anyone?

Nope, I found out about the CV dro off on the 27th. The thing is, I wanted to be clear on the process since it will be involving travel plans on my side (I'm not based in Dubai nor in the UAE).

So there, on the next CV drop off should I expect to just stay in Dubai for one day or should I book for a 3-day travel plan (maybe there will be an assessment)?

Well, looks like applying from Dubai here is not a popular option, I have been trolling the net but the info is so elusive! ;)

I had my FI two weeks ago, I know about waiting and that it may be sooner or later. I applied for the Cabin Crew position on their site, created my profile account, photos, etc, all these way before the OD. The only thing that I changed was a yes to the answer have you been interviewed and my FI date. Everyone talks about changes, am I supposed to see it in my application? or they send you an e-mail? or phone you? (not the GC)
Because I know too that they give you a different login account and password......I´m all confused about this....could you please clear things up for me?
I am checking thousands of times daily my profile, is this where I am supposed to see the changes?

It's not necessary to wear a bun... you can go with the ponytail! I have long hair (waist lenght) and I went like this to the OD and to the whole day after that...except to the final interview I was wearing buisness attire and did have a bun.. but a pony tail is fine!

When you open your account it appears:
My job applications
and under that says Open day or Assesment day, date, place where it was held and next to that should be something with bold grey letters, one of these: Applied, Application in process etc
That is your status. That's what you have to check and hope to change to you will be contacted, though as I understood the "You will be contacted" appears in red.
Good luck and patience!

Don't be sad :)
In Bucharest there will be assesment day, and I saw it on bestjobs already more than 5000, yes five thousand, people applied, so I would suggest you to apply on the Emirates site, you have better chances getting an invitation from them, than trying to stand out from thousands.
Or go to Belgrade in 25th September for Open day, just prepare for 4-5 days there. There is train from Timisoara every morning around 5 am. You just have to get to Timisoara from wherever you live.
Good luck to you as well!

Just want to thank you for your posts. Really helpful. In particular, thank you Mari for your dedication. I just wanna share my experience with you. I'm from France, I've tried 2 times the OD in France but unfortunetely I was unsuccessful. Keeping faith, I attended OD in LISBON and I made it. So sometimes maybe we have to persist.
My DOJ is on the 11th october, so if someone has the same please e-mail me.
Good luck for everyone and once again thank you for your help..
Kiss from rainy Paris.

Just found out that my accommodation will be at Dr. Khalifa Building, and wondering if anyone here has the same and could tell me what it's like? As in, location, room numbers/sizes, facilities on site etc...?

My DOJ is 13th September... anyone else?

With the accomodation details, did you find this out a week before you leave to Dubai with your e-ticket and visa?

And also how long did you have to wait until your resignation letter said "complete"? Is this ticked a week before you leave also? Just wondering that's all.... ;)

By the way... I googled your accomodation and it looks really nice plus it's on the Sheik Zayed Road which reading through this forum seems to be the closest to most things! LUCKY! :ok:

Thanks for your help in advance :)

Hi guys, I attended on AD in London on 15th of February- I was cut off after 1st stage. Then I applied after 6 months and 2 days and I wasn't shortlisted. The thing is I didn't change anything in my application except for photos (I put more recent) and in question "have you ever applied to emirates" I said yes. I also applied for AD 8th Sep in London and I wasn't shortlisted as well:ugh:. Have you guys got a clue why I keep failing at application stage??

Hey Amanda! My confirmation letter of resignation is now uploaded for almost 7 weeks and it still says: in progress. Plus, my contract still shows the old DOJ (I moved it due to notice period is so long in Switzerland). I called them and after trying 100 times ;-) they finally picked up today. The girl on the phone was really nice and said I shouldn't worry they will have a look at all of it one week prior to my DOJ... Crazy hey?

If I wanna apply directly in Dubai... whats the process???

hi,
I have the same problem, i was unsuccessful in the selection process sometime in october in nairobi, i reapplied way after six months in august this year but i was not shortlisted, i applied again for september and still nothing . I thought maybe its coz of my age since am 31, but i can see you are 24. I don't know what the reason for not shorlisting is, but i'll try a few more times...

Saw this interesting comment today. Hope most of you know what you are seriously getting into :ok:

Emirates Airlines Customer Reviews | SKYTRAX (http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/emrts.htm)

The flight attendants DXB-JFK were very rude and did not attend to passenger requests in spite of repeated request for help. They were switching the 'request attendant' light off and not coming over for help. When asked, one of the attendant's answer was 'we are 4 people attending to 300 passengers'.

Hey Amanda,

My accommodation details showed up a couple of days after the e-ticket and e-visa. I think my resignation letter was accepted around 2 working days after I posted it - I was late with posting it as my work were very awkward about writing the letter, kept "losing" it... There were maybe ten days - two weeks in between the resignation letter being accepted and my ticket and visa appearing.

I googled my accommodation too - seems to be a decent location, although that road is apparently huge... seems Al Barsha is where the life is but I guess I won't know for sure 'til I'm there :-)

I can't wait to find out about my accomodation too...so exciting! :):):)

hey ying23,
i also went to the open day in brisbane on the 17th of july and didn't get through :( i decided to try my luck again so i applied online on the 7th of sept. and received an invite to the open day on the 11th!! i am not sure why they are recruiting again so soon as it's been less than a month since they were last in brisbane, but i'm not complaining.... hopefully it is a good sign for both of us :)

i'm not sure why they have invited me either as i only applied last month and wasn't successful :/ but maybe tomorrow will be a good day and i will get my wings back! :)

i wish you all the best tomorrow, stay positive and i am sure you will do GREAT! :)

no this will be my first one, only just turned 21! I actually work for Toll Dnata in Sydney, they do all the passenger services and ground handling for Emirates at the airport so I have got a bit of insight of what to expect. The girl I work with who suggested I go to Brisbane tomorrow was former purser for EK, she she has helped me so much in preparing for tomorrow.

that's awesome! i'm jealous :( haha nah i really hope you get through hey... it's good that you have had the guidance and advice especially from someone who knows what it's all about.

after getting rejected the first time i figured it might have something to do with the fact that i have previously worked for qatar airways... so i applied for qantas UK and have basically got the job, my start date is the 21st of september, but i as ungrateful as this is going to sound... i actually would much prefer to work with emirates! so, i have a situation. not sure what to do

i don't want to pull out of Qantas in the hope of getting EK and then get rejected from EK - i'm left with nothing :( but an admin job which i hate! grrr.... :\

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know should I upload empty Ophalmic report since I don't need to fill it, because I don't wear glasses nor contact lenses???:confused::confused::confused: I am asking because I have sent all the other reports, and tests, and it still says in progress because of that Opthalmic report!

It is clearly stated that the report only has to be filled in when you're wearing contacts. So if I was you, I would send a query or just load it up and put a note on it that you're not wearing contacts, then the forms are complete and they will see it when they check it! See you soon in Dubai:cool:

First off- a BIG CONGRATS to everyone who has either gotten a GC, or received their final approvals. I'm so happy for you!!! Hopefully I'll be joining you in Dubai soon.

I'm on my way to the Mombasa AD. Its been so much fun since kenyan85 is also going, and two other girls who applied along with me. We're gonna spend some quality time tomorrow prepping, then on to show time on Sunday.

Fingers crossed!

Seja,
Thank you for fast reply! I will send them a query about it! I look forward to seeing you soon!!!

I have another question, my friend is considering going to OD in October. She is thinking on going to Vienna or Lisabon, does anyone knows which city is better to go (where could be less people):confused::confused:
Thanks guys!

Mari
10th Sep 2010, 14:11
Viena for sure!!! Mostly Eastern-Europeans will attend. I would say 20-60 applicants.

I think you can expect hundreds of applicants in Lisbon.

(Why do I think that? I've been reading this forum for years.)

I'm just guessing, though.

Someone recently asked about German ODs before: a friend went to Koln a couple of days ago. Only 30 people attended and 3 of them made it to the final interview: one Hungarian girl, one Asian girl and one Kenyan boy.

Good luck!

There is this thing in Vancouver I would like to attend in August of next year. I was just wondering, what are the chances of taking my leave at that time if I am joining this October? Can you take days off whenever during the year or do you have to bid for them? Perhaps Mari you can answer this for me?

Hi everyone! I'm going to attend to an Emirates Open Day in the late of September and I need a piece of advice from you. During the first day can I wear trousers or is it better a skirt? Second point, I'm European but I have curly hair just like this girl http://maxcdn.fooyoh.com/files/attach/images/614/089/481/curly-hair-cut-11.jpg so do I have to straighten it? I'm not very comfortable with straight hair but I've never seen a flight attendant with curly hair in a ponytail or in a bun...Thank you

Mari
10th Sep 2010, 15:31
Your chance is 50%. They will give it to you or they will not.

If it's something important you can contact your manager and/or the cabin crew service center before asking for the leave. However, I'm not sure it will help... You need to have a good reason like your sister is getting married: you need to provide the wedding invitation and the copy of the contract where the wedding ceremony will be held. (Yes, I'm serious...)

I always got what I wanted in the first 3 years. Since I'm on the 380 I don't really get what I want. Not even the requested off days. Yes, you need to bid for off days: you can request 4 off in a row. You have more chance if you are top bid or close to top bid. (You will be put in a bidding group after your training.) There are 7 groups and they are rotating every month. The bottom bid is your Reserve month, you are on the top in the 7th month.

My leave requests:
Previous half year: I asked two weeks in February, they gave me May. This half of the year: I asked 10 days in September, they gave me October. I asked for 5 days in December, they gave me that.

It's quite difficult to swap your flights for off days now as all the rosters are very busy and tight. Still, you can always try, it's easier in the Main Fleet, I guess.

You can call sick and fly but there is a great chance that they will find it out, mark you absent for the whole period of time and let you go. So, I wouldn't do it.

They don't give unpaid leave right now.

Let's hope you will get the requested leave.

Alltheravens

Thank you Mari, let's see how I can work it out :)

By the way, I wanted to let all of you in Southamerica know that we will be flying out of Sao Paulo on our DOJ. So if you want to meet up, you guys can do it there while connecting flights.

Mari
10th Sep 2010, 15:56
Daisy, you need to be pretty on the first day wearing business attire. Your hair needs to be neat and tidy.

Trousers are fine. However, you must wear skirt on your full-length photo and during your final interview.

(What's wrong with your legs?!)

That picture is lovely! You don't need to straighten your hair. However, you need to put it up in a bun. If it's as long as on the picture, pony tail is not an option. Once again: it's a requirement for the photos and the final interview.

It's up to you what you wear and how you keep your hair during the first day of selection. If you make it all the way you will get detailed instructions about the grooming standards required for the FI and the photos at the end of the day. You should pay attention and follow these instructions.

Good luck with the hair!

Hey EkAdelaide and missB :)
I made the final interview which was today :D .... I submitted all the requested documents however because I have previously worked for Qatar Airways, and only resigned this March I may have to wait for a DOJ if I am successful  But I think the interview went well.... my interview went for a about 45minutes with a lot of questions (a lot of reference to QR) and the way the recruiter was asked the questions was a bit hard to understand, I wasn't really sure what she was asking me haha.. She said to keep checking my emails and I should hear from them within 2-3weeks.... if not she said to make sure I call them.

I guess now the waiting game begins... missB did you go to the OD in Brisbane?

missB
13th Sep 2010, 05:41
Congratulations to you, now it is just a matter of waiting! How long did you work for QR for? Reasons for resigning if you don't mind me asking? I was thinking about going to their next OD, everyone has a different opinion about it though hey!

I didn't make the OD on the weekend had a wedding, but I'll be waiting for them to come around again - there was one in July and they came again in September so hopefully they come again before the end of the year, although the OD before July was in Feb...will see what happens!

Fingers crossed for you receiving a GC soon x

Thank you http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/smile.gif I hope I don't have to wait too long.... I am supposed to start with Qantas UK on 21st Sept. but I haven't signed a contract yet, so I am not sure whether I should take my chances with EK and hope I get the golden call.... or just go with Qantas http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/confused.gif I am going to try and get my training start date with QF pushed back a few weeks.... not even sure if that's even possible. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part hey haha.

I worked for Qatar for about 9 months, I resigned for several reasons but the main one was because my mum was hospitalized in Australia and they wouldn't grant me an extension on my unpaid leave.... so I had no choice but to resign http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/sowee.gif I absolutely loved living in the Middle East tho, traveling the world and experiencing different countries/cultures is a real eye opener.... but I guess it just wasn't the right company for me. I loved my job, but I love my family more.... so I don't regret my decision. Now I just got the mission task of getting back over to the sandpit and I hope that EK makes that happen http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/smile.gif You should go to their next open day and see what happens. They will talk to you about the company and show you a dvd on Qatar and what it's like living in Doha.... but make sure you do your own research before committing to anything. It's big step making the move to the Doha, and when I went to my OD for Qatar Airways they really glamorized it, made it out to be this unreal place (which it is) they just left out a lot of details that I guess you only find out when you land in Doha... irrespective of that, it is an amazing opportunity so definitely think about it hey http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yeah EK OD came around pretty quickly after their July visit.... so hopefully they come around again next month hehe, or at least December. They seem to be pretty hungry for more crew so there is a very good chance they will be back!

I will keep you posted on my progress.... fingers crossed it ends the way I hope it does http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/thumbs.gif x

Thank you purelife.... I didn't think I would get to the final interview! Very surprised! I will let you know if the GC comes my way http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hey everyone.

The Mombasa AD occurred yesterday and sadly I didn't make it. It was quite different from what I've read here in that around 80% of the participants were cut after the 1st round. Only 8 went through to the english test, and all the 8 went through to the final discussion. From them, 4 went through to the FI.

Next time I hope to be more successful though!

kenyan85
13th Sep 2010, 18:55
So sorry to hear that (hehe I'm acting as if I wasn't with you the whole weekend!). It is true that the interview process keeps changing, and nothing is guaranteed. Yes, they do cut that many people at the first cut, so that's not surprising. The statistic that only 5% only make it through to the FI is, however, accurate. I also noticed that EK prefers people with subservient personalities - i.e people who take abuse and criticism lying down, and would never think of uttering a word back at a customer in process. The people who also go through seem to have an ounce of confidence i.e a bit insecure. I think this personality is easy to mould and will stick to the status quo, but is also highly adaptable to different situations. The other lady made it all the way to the last group discussion but got cut after that. After all's said and done, we did our best, and six months is not a long time to wait. We'll be back, EK! Cheers xx

How PERFECT & FLAWLESS does one's face need to be? I'm getting the feeling if you even have one mole on your face they won't even consider you. Is that true? Are there any cabin crew out there that doesn't have perfect clear skin that's flying?

Ladies and gentlemen: about the 6 months rule...

I've attended an OD quite far from home recently. Now Emirates will conduct an OD late October in my home country and the distance isn't that big anymore. Would it be worth the risk to attend this OD? Or will I get 'caught' anyway in some stage of the process? And if so, what would be the consequences? I can't find a clear answer to this, so if anybody could help me out: much appreciated!

Thank you :ok:

Emirates cabin crew are all human, thus we have flaws.A OD or AD is NOT a modelling competition. I have come across rumors that EK cabin crew are ALL super hot and that's the merit they choose you on, and stories like that. Not true. Well groomed, yes. What I can tell you that as long as your acne is well controlled or you do not have anything thats really big it will be fine. My skin is far from perfect and I have lots of moles all over my body. I not currently flying, but will be joining on 4th October.

Hope that helps.

Steward_wannabe

How recently?
I went to my second AD after 4 months.I think the biggest issue is a RO recognizing you. I have read about someone not waiting the 6 months, she went through to the final interview and 2 weeks later received a call asking if she attended a AD before. One of the RO's in Dubai recognized her.She said yes and about a day or so later her status online changed to 'unsuccessful'.

So it depends if you willing to take the chance?

I just completed my final interview with one of the recruiters and was wondering what a rough percentage of being accepted was? Obviously I understand it involves a number of factors but is it a case of 50/50 or more of a case that you more or less will be accepted but they just need to check your references to make sure?

I put my application in online on the 7th of September and received an email in less than 24hrs inviting me to attend an OD in Brisbane on the 11th of September. I am not sure if it will be different for you as its an AD but definitely still put in your application online. You got nothing to lose.

Hope that helps.... good luck! :)

Hahamong,

you will receive an invitation if there are spots available. Send your application and you will see. If not this time, next time.

Irishmanc,

they won't take you at 39 in the Middle-East. Sorry. (About the gay thing: nobody cares.) You should try the UK. I think BA is hiring soon.

Steward,

there is no clear answer. Did you register for the OD before? (I advise everyone NOT to register for ODs. If you make it to the FI you can register the previous night, it's fine.) If you didn't there is nothing to worry about. If you did: you will see... If they ask you (they will: there is a questionaire) tell "No" (I mean tick the "no" answer on the paper.)

Justin,

have you ever attended any Emirates OD? Why do you have the impression that only extremely good looking people are accepted? You need to be presentable for sure. However, I've just met a girl whoose skin was terrible and she was hired recently. (She must have had lots of make-up on...) There is one thing about men: they don't take bold guys.

wish i can send my picture to someone and he/she advices me

if there any spot left? before just ten days i don't think there gonna be any spot left :{

Hi all,

Just want to say hello, I'm new here. I've been reading this thread for 2 days now (right from the first post!) and I am now even more motivated to have a go and apply for a cabin crew position with Emirates. I would especially like to thank Mari for her INVALUABLE posts, they are full of SO much information I could never find anywhere else! I feel alot more confident now that I know what to expect from from the recuitment process.

Is anyone else here thinking about applying to attend the Assesment Day in Sydney, Australia on Saturday 9 October 2010?

Even the first question on the application, "Include why you would like to work for the Emirates Group" has me stumped. I'm assuming they would like to show them my knowledge of the company. I don't want to stuff it up!

Wish me luck!

Sam :O

Miyako dear my FI was on 10 May and recieved the GC on 21 August!! I know how you feel, but you need to stay calm.Did you you use the number I gave you? I'm leave the 4th of October, so waiting long does not mean you are not going to make it, especially if they called you.Otherwise they could have just sent the rejection mail. Please pm me if I can help, I just emailed the one RO today and recieved a response in a hour.

thank you for your reply purelife. i went to the OD in brissie with a ponytail but was very disappointed as i did not get a call back from them for an interview.

hey bellabella congrats you got through to the final interview!! i hope you get the GC soon!! what did you think of the others who got through to the interviews? did you think there were any similar characteristics among those who made it? the od on 11 sept was my very first one so i wasn't too sure what they were looking for apart from looking well groomed? i would be attending another od as we can go again if we do not make it to the first round of interviews if i am right?

50/50 only exists with the meaning YES or NO. You can not guess, you can only wait.
I just got my not successful mail today, exactly 6 weeks after my FI. My references were not contacted at all, I think the decision is made mostly according to your FI
I really thought I will make it, I have all the necessary, except the ability to sell myself. I think I'm a really good work force, but I am not able to show it outside work, someone has to observe me, witch of course is more fair, then how you can talk about yourself, but it's not possible.

My advice for everybody:
Prepare to that FI, cause that will make the decision, and I don't mean the grooming, cause that's obvious, but take all your life story's, witch could be used as answers and color them in your head, to make you appear as the knight in shining armor, even if you were the scared rabbit...
GOOD LUCK to everybody! Hope you will make it!

hahamong: Don't stress so much about the pictures!! for my final interview the photos i gave were TERRIBLE!!! really, but I had no time to re do them, and I got through!! so don't worry so much about that, apply now! What's meant to be will happen...even with good or bad photos :ok:

Mariemi: DO NOT say you are fluent in a language if you are not, in my OD our recruiters told us to only put the languages we are fluent (speak, write, read) in, because there could be a chance were they can put you in a flight were you are the only one who can speak a certain langauge, so you have to be fluent in it!

Why would you like to work for the Emirates Group is not such a hard question, and they do not expect a whole essay... I like interacting with people, I love to travel and meet different cultures, etc! You should really think: why do I want to work there? And you will be able to write something nice ;)

Keke: Im so sorry to hear that... but im sure God has a better plan for your life, because what's meant to be happens... :)

The best of luck to all :D

My friend who interviewed in June, had calls from EK and one more form required. The entire time her status said In Progress...today 3 months later it said Not Successful.. do not be fooled if you are waiting so long to hear or if you have In Progress in your status...

Hi Sam

Go for the open day! I don't think it really matters if you apply online or not, as you don't need to be registered for the open day - I think that if you do apply online you'll be given a candidate number which can be used to track your application if you're successful in getting through to the final interview! Basically on the open day you show up (looking immaculate in a knee length skirt, skin coloured tights and appropriate shoes) with your resume and photo of you in business attire. I daresay Syd will be like the Brissie open days, the last one I went to in July there was about 150 people...make sure you get there EARLY! The recruitment girls will show you some dvd's on emirates and dubai, have a question and answer session and then will take everyones resume one by one - this gives you about 2-3 minutes to absolutely shine and give them a reason to call you back! If you are successful, they'll call you back for the next day and if you're successful then you'll get called for a final interview. I've been to two open days so far and it is easy to feel intimidated, but just make sure you smile and look them in the eye!

For the online question about why you want to work for emirates - well, why do you want to work for emirates? Is it for the opportunity to travel, or because you want to get more customer service experience, or because you're looking for something completely different from a 9-5 desk job? I don't think you can really have a wrong answer, just be honest because they will know when you're being fake and when you're being real!

Good luck!!

i stressed about the picture cause i read that you have to be neat and well groomed to be accepted for an interview for emirates that's why i even went to a hairdresser and everything, now that i applied before less than 10 days do i still have chance to get the invitation or do they stop looking at the application when it's only one week before?
as Mari said that if they have a spot left, and i know in my country the appliers are hundreds and hundreds girls so i'm confident anymore

Thank you for your kind words and advice MissB! You are a gem :)

I'm starting to think that maybe I should attend an OD/AD at a later date. The reason is that my current lease for my apartment doesn't end until February 2011 and if by chance I DID get offered a CC position now, I'm not sure that they would appreciate me asking for a DOJ 6 months away! I simply cannot afford to break my lease so early, it will cost me thousands!

Does anyone know how often the Open Days are held? I have read past posts and saw that the last one in Sydney was 28 August 2010, and the next one is 9 October 2010. Is it safe to assume they are around every 6-8 weeks? Someone please let me know. I'm just hoping with all the new fleet arriving that they will still be recruiting alot of people at the beginning of next year.

Keep up the great posts and good luck to you all!

Hey guys!
since i'm already fed up and have no hope that they will contact me concerning my current application (Final interview was 3 months ago ) and didn't hear from them so far!!

is it ok if i appllied online for the next open day in Egypt?
please advise!!

That sucks that your lease isn't up until then - why don't you go along to the open day anyway, just so you can see what it's like and then when it comes time to do the CV drop off go to the bathroom and then leave? I'm not sure if anyone else has experience with asking to join at a later date, but still it helps to be prepared, and if you go to an open day you'll know what to expect and it might take some of the nerves off for next time.

6 - 8 weeks isn't a general rule, I attended an OD in brisbane in February and they didn't come around again until July...but then they were back in September. I think they say about 3 months, so if you don't want to go in October you'll probably find that they'll come again probably in January or February!

You guys are right, I should just go for it! I have nothing to lose except maybe 6 months (if I don't get in and need to re-apply).

Well I guess I need to go and buy a suit then! ;)

Oh, and I double checked the website and it's actually a "Global Assessment Day" not an Open Day, so I think it's invites only (but I'm not certain). I need to knuckle down and get my online application sorted and my photos done! I will devote the whole day tomorrow to perfecting my resume hehe.

It's a relief to know that if I get in my DOJ won't be until at least January. What a relief...

I know everyone here says this but I have honestly never wanted something so bad in my life. I wouldn't be willing to leave my boyfriend behind unless I really wanted this! That reminds me, if they happen to ask if I'm single I'm going to say "yes" just incase it gives me a better chance (I know it's really none of their business but ya never know!)

Keep up the good work lovelies!

Sam :)

So here's my question. I'm 20 years old, I know the age requirement is 21 years old. I turn 21 in June so needless to say I do have quite a while. 9 months to be exact. But since the whole process takes a while, for a few months sometimes, from start to all the way to getting the "golden call" when do you guys think I should start the application process? Will they let me be 20 in training as long as I turn 21 before graduation? I already have 2 years of flight attendant experience under my belt, just getting that out there. :) Thanks everyone.

Hey... just wondering if anyone got asked in there final interview if they would prefer main fleet or the A380?

Hey mariemi (http://www.pprune.org/members/334984-mariemi)
It's definitely great that you have applied.... I don't think it's too late. I applied online and in less than 24hrs I received an email from them. Mine was for an OD tho, so it may be different for an AD but if there are places available then you have every chance of getting an invite :)
