1. I can leave the seat up
2. The remote's all mine
3. Don't have to make the bed

You'd never guess what I'm doing today..........................

I seem to only be able to come up with downsides such as:

mediocre roomservice
dangerous or boring areas around the hotel
lack of (decent) catering at FBO
wrinkled clothing (bad at packing...)
noisy neighbours
construction on floor above/beneath you
limited wi/fi options or extremely expensive
"hammock" style beds
tv with only local programmes or 1980's B-movies with alot of static
black hairs on various locations in the room
"smokey cave" iso a non-smoking room
roaches fighting over the remains of my roomserviceI have been flying both commercial and private, this is just a accumulation of issues encountered along the years.
Thank god there are also great, clean hotels with friendly staff and FBO's with good facilities.
I guess the bad things stay with you longer.....

You can watch/listen to/read whatever you want without having to put up with a running commentary.

You can fart/belch as loud as you like.

You can get up/go to bed whenever you want as long as you remember the 'do not disturb' sign on the door.

You can eat/drink whatever you like.

Yep, I'm looking forward to next week.

Oh come on silverware....

- Same room, different views.
- Roomservice.
- Bath tube, which I dont have at home..
- Free internet
- Plenty of loo roll
- Toilet seat point seconded..
- Gym and pool often near...

I personally love hotel rooms and can put up with some serious squaller.. But I am easy to please :-)

- Not making beds or similar
- Sleep late when on extended layovers
- No home chores to do
- Lots of time to read, use the laptop or review items for next recurrent
- I the hotel menu is good, the variety of options
- Nobody asks what i do or don't in my living space
- I learned to live out of what fits in a carry-on for 15 days at a time

If the hotel is good, the only thing i miss is home (sometimes). but of course, i get to choose on which hotels i stay, if someone would do that for me in my company, I would be miserable for sure.

Positive things frequently mentioned by my former airline collegues where being away from every day chores, husband/wife and kids...hence the drunk and  moms dancing half naked at the local club at 04.30 in the morning :ok:

use the laptop or review items for next recurrent...that's exicting !:ok:

1. I can leave the seat up
2. can be back late from Pub/club without having to justify your state
3. watch as much as you want adult films on the paytv
4. you can invite the F/A for a drink in your room if she's cute...

you can invite the F/A for a drink in your room if she's cute...

Or both of them if you're lucky enough to be flying something reasonably substantial. ;)

Not that I've had any luck like that...my beautiful wife always meets me to pick me up...so she'll know. :{

The finer points of a corporate pilot

- You know when each of the Hilton's will be finished their makeover (hotels included)

- 2 weeks out of one suit case (carry on of course, just in case you have to pax somewhere)

- you own a pair of shoes that are between formal and casual, you justified that they are funtional, now you just dont care if they look stupid

- your laptop files are so organised your next project when youre bored is to organise all of the free porn on the internet in on place

- you dont understand what travel agents actually do anymore, when you can book a hotel, car, and return flights to pick up the other jet whilst driving

- you notice your body changing shape weekly, depending on your location

- the local FBO guy knows you were commng from your facebook status, thats how well you know him

I have never laughed so much in my life. I Remember a 14 day trip to the US.

I got so incredibly bored that I organized, de-organized and then re-organized my entire computer hard drive by placing every single item into a single file and starting again. I thought I was the only one.

And the shoes..... it has long been a sad lonely hobby sitting in hotel bars and working out the pilots and the size of their aircraft from the regular guests entirely based on shoes. Why do pilots wear such strange shoes?

I'm waiting to see the first pilot wearing a pair of MBTs!!! Personally I think it would be wise for all of us after sitting in the same position for 4 hours...or even better, a free massage on every stopover!:}

Right now, I'm in my sixth day in Warsaw, stuck due to ash. I'll let you know if Marriott has something above Platinum.

Up until about a year ago, I was able to maintain Platinum status with Marriott, and Diamond status with Hilton, at the same time! That means I stayed at least 125 nights in those hotels in just one year (1/3 of my life). While there are obvious down sides to that (not being home much, always on the road, etc.), at least all the perks made the hotel stays very, very comfortable, and often times the food in the concierge suites was more than adequate and you could pocket all of your per diem.

Now that I fly for a guy who owns most of the hotels we stay in, and none of them are affiliated with Hilton or Marriott, I have lost my esteemed status with those two brands, and when I do stay in them now, I am relegated to the "standard rooms" and benefits. :(

Ah, well. I'm quite happy to still have a good job, and I wish all of us on here were fortunate enough to say the same. Believe me, I feel for all of you that are looking for work!

- not listening to a hairy man SNORE in the bed next to you
- not listening to a hairy man SNORE in the bed next to you
- not listening to a hairy man SNORE in the bed next to you

Worst thing:
- listening to a hairy man SHAG in the room next to you.....

Pooping with the door open :D:D:D:D
Exactly!! Nice that somebody summed up the finer points of being an ambassador of the elite in an already highly regarded profession.

When the Ray Ban and Samsonite equipped, tall and handsome pilots stroll through the terminal with an aura of determination and authority that calls for envy from their fellow man... little is it known that they are mostly thinking about sitting on the throne with an open door.

Living four nights a week on the road "usually" means you are earning more than most folks. At least it did for me for over 15 years.

You're late - there are already pilots wearing them. Won't say who it is though...

I live out of a suitcase, but never actually unpack whether it's in a hotel room or when I get home .... sad eh ?!

I enjoy laying in the starfish position whilst in a hotel bed ... can't do that at home.

And of course taking the pen and paper pad home with you after each stay ... as well as the shampoo, soap, sewing kit, paper, envelopes ...:E

... and that sponge for shining your shoes, that makes your fingers smell like petroleum.

(dont remember the English word)

potatowings

What the hell is that sponge? All it does is make my shoes collect lots of dust and human hair from the hotel lobby carpet.

However, I do like my cockpit slippers from the Sheraton.

As for hotel pens. I love collecting those bad boys. Get one from reception as you check in, one from your room each day, one from every member of staff you talks to you, even just in passing, and one when you checkout. Awesome.... God, please get me out of this hotel, going mad!

falling asleep with your roomdoor still open and find out the next morning.....

ABO944

Or indeed, falling asleep naked ontop of the bed and waking up to find out that the maid had been in your room :O

Collecting per diems at the same time as not spending my housing allowance. Why would I want to do that, when I'm only home for 6 nights a month!

Oh, and pens. I'm sure our BOW has gone up with the number of pens secreted about the plane. Where do they all go?
