“Around the world in five easy steps” …… “a flight time limitation variation”………...
“I stand behind these patterns as long as they are flown as published”……. Is it just me, or is that code for “ we have to push things hard to pull this off! ” ? . Call me cynical but I’m not looking forward to how they roster this! I think the 400 guys should standby for a sh!t sandwich ( and not just the ones loaded by catering ex HKG ! ) :yuk:

Bring on that 777 course!

So when exactly is the first round the world extravaganza?

How much time off is there in each place?

Will there be time for fun and frivolity in DXB?

How many days does it take?

What will the roster patterns look like?

Enough crapola, does anyone have the facts?

I'm told that SQ have been doing similar freighter patterns for years with some very good loads from the US into Europe. They take about 10 days over it but that includes an extra stop in Asia which CX don't need. Also SQ don't have based 400 crew so the same people do the whole pattern whereas CX have other options available.

Interestingly SQ also normally route the return NYC non stop flight across the Atlantic for a shorter flight time.

something for those fast track and early freighter commands to enjoy for a few years i fear!

How can this be done and ready for next month's rosters if the RP has not been changed? What did I miss?

Sq patterns are similar, however they are scheduled for around 12-14 days.
Billy, the pattern will be subject to a variation on the existing RP's.

In my time in SQ the 'Round the World Freighter' trip was hard to get as it was often a request, a very popular trip. It may be different now that there is a seperate SQ cargo airline.

I would just like to remind you all that this forum is used as a sounding board for pushing of the envelope ideas , in relation to what can they get away with next.
Who cares if xyz airline did it ,does it ,would like to.
What matters is if its a degradation of safety in relation to fatigue it shouldn't happen period.
If its already happening in your airline (degradation of conditions of service) tough you didn't fight hard enough, its not something we aspire too

Well Claire, a round the world trip in a B747 is usually a total non-event, if rostered fairly, so how about someone posts the actual trip, days lay over down route, time off back at base etc. then all us 'nuisance' posters will go away!:)
